Spare yourself and don't bother. Maybe it didn't help that I started it late enough that I was struggling to stay awake 2/3rds of the way in, but it wasn't exactly keeping me awake either. It's a horror... But you just keep waiting for it to get really good and turn crazy and it just never really happens. What does is so minor and anticlimactic. There's so much it could have done more with and just didn't. I kept checking to see how much time there was left on it, tempted to stop the film before I fell asleep and finish later, but stuck it out for the last 3rd hoping it would get better. It's not often there is a film I think is quite this crappy... Even online its reviews are so bad. It's not even an enjoyable kind of bad. Lets just say that even if TMNT: OotS had no way it was winning an Oscar, in comparison to The Remains it would at least get nominated for one. OotS may not be a good film, but it can at least be enjoyable bad for what it is. |

Dredd 2012. It was pretty fun. The slow mo scenes went on forever though, even on 2x speed.

Not a movie, but currently making my way through The People v OJ Simpson. Really well done. Courtney B. Vance is stellar, as is Sarah Paulson. Sterling K. Brown is the reason I even watched, and he certainly hasn't disappointed.
I keep throwing up my hands and calling Hollywood BS... but every time I go for a fact check, turns out 95 % this crazy **** happened. Looking forward to the rest of these American Crime Story deals, especially Katrina. |

I also caught Atomic Blonde this weekend.
Really liked it a lot. Great action, and pretty kick-ass soundtrack. Going to have to check out the graphic novel it's based on.

District 9, really surprised how much I liked this. Got really good once the guy started to become infected and slowly transformed.
The Abyss. Underrated James Cameron movie from 1989. Point Break, a really great early Keanu Reeves movie from 1991. Great cop movie where he has to go undercover to stop bank robbers who are also surfers by day. LOL, it's so funny watching old Keanu Reeves movies before he became known for Neo and John Wick. |

I've been on a Zatoichi binge. Haven't been seeing then in order, but on around 5 of the 26 original movies. I've only seen the 2003 movie beforehand so I'm having a blast with these.

This is going to sound stupid, but I decided to go on a marathon of my childhood due to coming down with depression again. One of the shows I revisited was Blue's Clues due to finding an interview with Steve's actor, Steven Burns. Sure enough, I went on to watch Blue's Big Musical.
The show has definitely aged, but it did put a smile on my face. I really liked a few of the songs and also Ray Charles as G-Cleft, but it is really an extended episode of the show. Still fun for nostalgic purposes. On the side of actual films, watched Psycho (the original) and damn... amazing film. I need to rewatch it again because of studying film; my drama instructor says it's a perfect example to use.

I saw Kong: Skull Island the other day. It was alright. Nothing spectacular. Decent plot with Samuel L Jackson's character being the only memorable one (besides Kong of course). I liked the Skull Crawlers' designs, they fit right in with the kaiju from the last Godzilla movie.
Only negative things about it are the lack of any real threat for Kong to face, and there were too many attempts at having "epic" moments. |

I've seen 19 Zatoichi movies so far, and a unoffial Zatoichi vs. the flying guilotine. They had hired a look-alike to play ichi so I was a bit confused at first cause the guy is dead alike they original actor, but the similarities end there as his acting was not up to snuff and the depiction of Chinese zatoichi was rather offcharacter.

I finally got around to watching "Get Out."
I knew about all the plot twists and the social commentary was topical to the point that it took me out of the movie a bit, but I thought it was a well crafted homage to the cinematic horror of the 70s and 80s.

In Norway we have a duo called Wam and Vennerød , anyway their films were controversial/anarchist back in the day , esp the colorful language was shocking for its time
Det tause flertall (The silent majority) 4/6 , Øystein works at a printing factory and meets up with a swedish mom , lol the scene where his work buddy starts working out nude in the sauna , so random :p Another W & V movie "Hotel St Pauli" features a simulated wetsex scene , I mean what film makers in Norway had the guts to show something like that back in '88 except W & V ? Just watched GotG2. Was happy to see it had finally come out when I went to WalMart the other day. So today I picked it up and watched it with Mr D. He hadn't seen it yet. Next weekend we plan to go see It when it comes out.
