The PS3 game I mentioned is from a 1980s game that was available on Nintendo (NES) and Famicom.
I have had it for the Apple II GS Does anyone else have the original game, and the PS3 Thexder Neo? How do they compare?

Well, there they are. Blurry as sh*t, but I'm too lazy to take another picture. My SNES collecting has fallen apart over the past year on account of a lack of spare cash and, more importantly, my girlfriend's HD television. I can't hook the SNES up to it -- it has no S-video connection, and whenever I plug the SNES composite cables to the TV's component outlets, not only does the image look balls, there's a weird lag that crops up that makes any game unplayable. I have a regular tube television, but it's tiny and stored in the closet and it's a pain in the ass to haul out and set up, considering there's nowhere to put the damn thing. Le sigh. Anyway, a complete list: Star Fox Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team Battletoads in Battlemaniacs Street Fighter II Super Street Fighter II Gradius III Arcade's Greatest Hits - The Atari Collection 1 TMNT: Turtles in Time Hit the Ice Judge Dredd Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Super Tennis F-Zero Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare ClayFighter 2: Judgment Clay Not a bad little bundle. I overpaid on some (both Battletoads games) and got spankin' deals on others (Gradius III, F-Zero, Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for $5 apiece). Had a lot of fun tracking these down. Perhaps I'll continue the search sometime in the future. |

The Mario games were also up at a stupid price about 20 or more a pop.

We recently stopped in to our favorite store and picked up Breath of Fire III (Playstation) and they mentioned they got in Breath of Fire II (SNES) but it wasn't working. I asked if they'd mind letting me see if I could fix it so I brought that plus Yoshi's Island (SNES) & Legend of Zelda (NES) home to see if I could get them working. Sadly, upon opening Breath of Fire II it became apparent that someone tried to break the cartridge in half and somehow had damaged the board so I wasn't able to fix it. BUT, upon opening the cart up I saw this and just had to share... "Remove Label Before Placing In Microwave Oven" .... ..... I don't even know WHY you would put a sticker like that inside of a cartridge... Good news was I got Yoshi's Island working so they sold it to me at a discount (Legend of Zelda has a bad chip, so I couldn't fix that one for them either). I've been on a mission to get all my disc only games some replacement artwork. I'm down to 4 Sega CD games & 1 Dreamcast game left. I like using www.cdcovers.cc mostly but there are some other decent websites too. I use Gimp (free software for Mac or PC) for editing the page & print sizes for odd shaped case art like Saturn/Sega CD, etc. Works pretty well, especially if you aren't able to get the original case artwork. |

I put the breaks on pretty hard last year and I haven't done much since. I got a few NES and Gameboy games a few months ago, but nothing major and it'll probably stay that way until the very end of the year. Outside of a few things I have my eye out for I don't expect to be doing much for quite a while. If I do it'll be via trades or something similar. I have a box full of spares I really need to get around to doing something with. |

It's Power Rangers - The Fighting Edition, felt like I should state that due to sh*t photo. Apologies. But yeah, first garage sale find in a LONG time.

What're your guys' favorite underdog consoles/peripherals? I thought the 32X had promise as far as an accelerator for what people could already do with their Genesis but it was a mess in many other ways. I kind of wish it'd hung on longer. I also loved Game Boy Advance's eReader and felt it was underutilized.
Virtual Boy's seeing a homebrew renaissance so maybe I'll look into that I'm also more fond than most people of OUYA but that's to recent to count in this topic.

Vectrex or NGPC, love both of those systems.

Gonna have to agree with the NGPC and I can't believe I forgot about that. Also while we're on the same thread there: the WonderSwan Color was pretty cool too.

I liked Sega's Nomad... would have been nice if mine worked.

The VB got/is getting ports of Street Fighter II and Snatcher. Considering that's 200% more VB homebrews than the simple tech demos I've seen before, it's a massive increase.

I think I've mentioned before that I own every NGP/NGPC fighting game except for Gals Fighters (which was not a deliberate omission). Half of them came with the system when I bought it off of a co-worker and the others I just happened to find dirt cheap. SNK vs. Capcom is definitely head-and-shoulders above the others though.
Pretty much the only thing I dislike about it is that the memory - including progress for your game - is saved on the system's watch battery. So if you need to replace the battery.... ppb! There goes your saves. The WonderSwan's a neat little device but I don't have a heck of a lot of experience with it. I only have a small handful of games - off the top of my head it's probably just Guilty Gear Petit 1 and 2, the One Piece Grand Battle game, Final Fantasy 1, and Ring Infinity. If I ever get an entertainment budget again I really should look into expanding those collections.
