NO. No, no no NO. I can not STAND IT when they do that "Oh, Jor-El or whoever actually came to Earth way back in the day", or "Interacted with actual humans (and prominent ones, at that) through some kind of outer-space Skype chat" crap, and they show Jor-El like, hand-picking the Kents to be Clark's foster parents. It's F'n Stupid. It completely eliminates any kind of random happenstance from the origin. It makes the universe too small (literally in this case) and makes every single event a part of some predetermined, prefabricated "Destiny", and it's just awful.
This is the kind of thing people who hate Superman always rag on. Part of the romance of the myth, for people who understand it, is that, but for chance and circumstance, Kal-El could have landed anywhere, or nowhere, and things could have turned out completely different for everyone. He could have landed in Russia, or even died in space, and everything would be different in the entire DCU. When you make everything into "Destiny" and "Prophecies" and hand-picked successors and everything is completely scripted out and connected, it's not only All Too Convenient, it changes the entire dynamic of who Kal-El is. When it's all happenstance, Clark is someone who, though gifted, came up from humble roots, and because of that, has an inner nobility that is specifically what makes him heroic, the fact that he CHOOSES to be Superman. If it's all Destiny and the Kents were hand-picked to raise him and everything happens exactly according to Jor-El or whoever's "plan", then Clark is Predetermined To Be Earth's Savior King, and I find that more than a little bit problematic. It's always a much better story when they just shoot the rocket and pray he makes it. I can't stand it when it's like, Jor-El's already been to Earth and gotten Clark's first apartment picked out for him before the kid's even born. That sh*t breaks huge chunks of the story. I hope this show can avoid taking that way. They'd have to be completely out of ideas to pull that.

Sadly dude, that's superheroes anymore. Where Spidey and the Turtles used to be heroes by accident, now it's all pre-ordained, by science!

Don't get me wrong, they have a ton of good stuff they CAN pull from if they want to go by the books. I mean for one thing, it's called "Krypton" and not "Kandor" or "Kryptonopolis", so they have a big canvas to work with if they want to take advantage of it. I mean, you could do a whole season JUST on Brainiac's invasion of and capture of the entire city of Kandor if you wanted. I personally would love to see things like the the terrorist group Black Zero, the wars that were raged over genetic engineering and cloning, the creation of The Eradicator... there's a lot they can do, it just doesn't all involve a ton of characters a casual viewer would be familiar with.
I'll check it out but I'm not crazy excited for it. They might win me over, I'unno.

A bit of a minor update. David S. Goyer has confirmed that Krypton will take place in the DC Cinematic Universe, 200 years before the events of Man of Steel: http://comicbook.com/2015/10/22/grod...-flash/#Image8

You know what would be a decent prequel? The rise of the Foot Clan under the Shredder. I could see that working for like (15) 30 minute episodes or like a 12 issue miniseries. I get the novelty, but it's just that to me. A novelty

I don't know. I think there's a ton of good stuff they can potentially do with it, but it's way too soon to tell.

Some casting news. Georgina Campbell has been selected to play Lyta Zod, who will also be the love interest of Supes granddaddy Seg-El.

I've come to actually like MOS in the last couple of years, and I loved BvS, but I have no interest in this.

This is still the dumbest, most un-asked for show I've ever heard of. It makes "Gotham" look like "Breaking Bad".

The cheap pointless ill-conceived cash-in! You'd think, what with Superman's lukewarm reception of late, that they'd have canceled this stupid show and gone with yet another Batman or Gotham or Batman-With-A-Bow-and-Arrow type show...

I guess this is before they use the Codex for all their reproduction?

And introducing some kid I've never heard of (Cameron Cuffe can be currently seen in Florence Foster Jenkins) as Superman's grandpa, Seg-El. Soon to be cast will be Superman's Great grandpa (Ter-El) and great great grandpa (Val-El)
Kid doesn't look old enough to shave... Spoiler:

This is truly the dumbest crap ever. Gonna make Smallville look like Breaking Bad levels of quality.

I dunno, this seems like way more worthwhile than Gotham. At least this (as I understand it?) is tied into something of relevance, i.e., their actual cinematic universe.

Saw the trailer... I prefer my Krypton more in line with pre-crisis...
