April IS a sexy character, whether she's a reporter, a computer programmer, a scientist, or a small business owner. She's got her **** together, so she's sexy. She's EXTRA sexy because she's physically attractive, she takes care of herself, and accepting of otherness - a rare combination of traits. At times she's nurturing, strong, independent, and at others she's vulnerable and demure. She's kinda the best of all worlds.

Unfortunately, Megan didn't give any of those vibes in her first outing, and instead we were subjected to other characters literally pointing at her sexuality and commenting on it. That isn't sexy, in any form, and never has been, be it the objectification of the self (be it Zsa Zsa Gabor or Cindy of 3's company, or Baywatch) or via some other party.

But we really need to stop vilifying sex. SEX is not the problem, and neither are beautiful people. Don't let the Puritans win, we're all better than that.

^^^^This is exactly what I mean! Dude! WTF is with you guys? It's okay to admit when someones sexy! All these dudes tripping over themselves to be the first to boast how they are in no way sexual...SMH....
Sex appeal isn't bad, I'm not saying it isn't. But here's why it doesn't work:
1. April ISN'T a sexy character, with the exception of the 1980's show. She's more like a big sister to the Turtles.
2. Megan Fox's horrible acting is a crime, yes, but she made MULTIPLE INTERVIEWS during the production of the first movie where she said April wouldn't be sexualized. Now, they're putting her in the school girl outfit... It just doesn't fit the character, you know? Continuity. April isn't a sex appeal object, Megan Fox is. I don't see this character as April, I see it as Megan Fox trying desperately hard to play April.

I honestly don't think she looks bad with the plastic surgery, I just don't necessarily think she needed it.

Wish I could believe it... the Turtles' actors are more in character just standing around than she is with all that 'trying.'

Turtles didn't meet April, just Megan Fox, and were appropriately unphased. (Ok, except Mikey, I guess he's the in-movie voice for the pro-Fox part of the forum.)

The Turtles' actors were perfect. Hell, halfway through the movie, Johnny Knoxville's voice grew on me and I was thinking, "Yeah, that's Leonardo."

April, though? I couldn't get past Megan Fox. I saw Will Arnett for Vern, Whoopi Goldberg as Bernadette, and William Fichtner as Eric Sacks, but I didn't see Megan Fox as April.

Dude, reread my post where I admit I think Fox looks good in a schoolgirl outfit. I'll also go on record saying I think she looks good without it, as well. (Minds out of the gutter, children...)

I've got no problem with a bit of sexy in a movie. The problem is with how it's portrayed. Michael Bay does sexy the same way he does everything; flashy, loud, blatant, in your face, and just because. It's like the Fast and the Furious franchise, only worse.

Bay could be writing an intelligent movie, if he wanted (or knew how), and include sex appeal. Instead, he is writing a movie where 6ft 500lb Turtles with Hulk fighting techniques are somehow called ninjas, and are going to be drained of all their blood EVEN IF IT KILLS THEM. This movie is not written for an intelligent adult audience, or even an intelligent audience of children; it's written for ADHD spastic children who scream at their parents to take them to the new Ninja Turtles movie and buy them all the toys. Why is Megan Fox in a schoolgirl costume? Because dads are bored and need a few seconds of diversion, not because it has anything to do with a well-written script or story.

It's weird, I saw Being Evel on the weekend (Evel Knievel documentary) which had Knoxville providing narration very calmly yet enthusiastically. All I thought was Leo the whole time. Actually made me excited to hear his Leo again.

Knoxville's voice grew on me, and I'm not going to complain about him being the voice of Leo again, but I would prefer if they brought in Pete. He sounds much more like what I thought Leo would sound like. But Knoxville did a lot better than I thought he would, to be honest.

Knoxville sounded fine to me (I've never seen him in anything else to ruin it for me), but it just pisses me off that Pete got screwed over.

Um, you know who you're talking to right? The most obnoxious PDMT slamming Jerk here, right?

No need to remind me how horrific the thing was - I'm well aware.

What i'm saying is more like this; fans lament things, and other fans regurgitate those same things after a while, so that it almost becomes a mantra. We divide along love/hate lines and spew vitriol that often boils down to a few essential albeit repetitive talking points.

Unfortunately, when they skim through forums like these, or other sites to gather data for the studio (a thing that they actually do, believe me) comments about sexuality can translate into sex is bad, remove all sex! similar to the way that they got the impression that moms hated the fighting in TMNT1, and so SOTO had the bulk of the violence removed - but not just removed - replaced with awkward fight scenes involving lunch meats.

But I digress. My point wasn't so much directed at you, as to the room. The new penchant for men donning hairshirts and habitually admonishing other men for hetero discussion has reached new levels of lunacy.

Okay, I wasn't sure. I mean, I know you're a fellow sane who can't stand what Bay is doing, but it kinda read like you were completely misunderstanding my POV.

For the record, I think Fox is a good-looking woman, haters be damned, and I have no problem with sexy scenes. I simply doubt the creativity responsible for the schoolgirl scene inclusion.

Tell that to tumbler, pinterest, deviantart, and, well, the internet as a whole.
She makes the top 10 of any sexy female cartoon blog anywhere. They comment in the 1990 movie. Eastman drew her to look like a porn-star in Mirage (at times).

What world are you living in?

Maybe that's head cannon, but that's head cannon the entire internet has adopted. Google it for yourself.

And just because you think of her as "more like a big sister to the Turtles", doesn't remove her sex-appeal for other characters, or the audience. I'm not advocating for an april-turtle love connection, but i'm sure there are many around that would.

Yeah man I'd hit that. All'a that.

I love how you can see her nipples when Casey's giving her that massage. I've always loved that. I think 8-year-old me loved it the most, though.

I get it, but in a production this creatively bankrupt, what did you really expect? My hostility has turned to delirium.

I will say this - I'm fair when it comes to criticism. So far, Shredder is better, but still meh, they hired actors with the correct ethnicities for B&R, even if that should be a given, and the got rid of Liebseman.

But let's be real, should I give them props? It's a bit like celebrating a drunk's first day sober, or conversely, a bartender getting your rum and coke right on the fourth try.

The FOURTH try. Yeah....

I will give them a slow clap on Fox - for the sexy bit. She looks like Mirage April, just a enough, and completely by accident, for one scene.
AMAZING
And of course this is followed by a scene where Mikey high-fives some cos-playing Bayformers.

go-drunken-master, go-drunken-master GO...

Didn't look over to me, bro.

Commenter, people can do whatever the hell they want, but I just feel that plastic surgery isn't needed in some cases like in Fox's. Sure, she's attractive, but she could have pulled that off without the surgery. And as for the schoolgirl outfit, it's just not something I would expect April to wear while going undercover. I would think something along the lines of a business suit would look better for an undercover mission or just casual clothes.

Alright, I'll try to be good and stick my reply over here (even if going between threads is nearly as annoying as having to listen to a phone call on one phone but speaking into a separate one).

Yeah, Liebsman, that's how it works. I think he has a masters degree in Captain Obviousness.
Spoiler:

"You can't ignore that fans want it handled respectfully, so I wanted to see that happen. Wait, scratch that, I don't give a crap about that."

Edit: Actually, now I'm curious what he and Bay would do to Wizard of Oz, Happy Feet, and Legend. lol

Those sorts are irritating, wannabe industry bigwigs that string all these words together to try to make it sound good, but what they're saying has little to no actual meaning at all. Just like politics it's all rhetoric.

I don't think this is an on-set photo because it is at a bar, but Sheamus and Gary Anthony Williams are both in NYC right now. Hopefully, there will be some more photos of Rocksteady and Bebop soon.

Eh. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if we saw pics of them. They'd just be in mo-cap suits anyways.
