Hopefully Nick licenses it to a distributor who might give it a better release.

I think that the only hope that this show has is for the rest of the seasons to get released on itunes/amazon. I think the end of television shows getting released on dvd is coming, and it's coming soon. Movie releases will last a little bit longer, but not television shows.

Either way, they were crummy releases... I sincerely hope their response didn't shelve any potential better releases, but... you know business-think.

TV shows are still released on blu-ray all the time. DVDs are being phased out, but that's only because of blu-ray.

I doubt everything will be digital only. People still want to own physical versions of things.

With any luck they'll give the rights to Lionsgate.

Who will then proceed to release Seasons 1 and 2 in their own nice boxsets, and then split Season 3 into 4 different volumes, shuffle all the episodes around for the remaining seasons, and package all 4 of the Season 7 volumes with minifigures of the Turtles based on their Back To The Sewer appearances.

Jokes aside, though, now that I think about it, that's still better than how Nick is treating this show.

Pretty much ANYTHING is better than how Nick is treating the show.

You could package Season 1 of the show with TMNT III and Bayturtles and have that be the only release, and it'd still be better than how Nick is treating the show.

Right now, yes, tv shows are still getting released on to dvd. But for how long to we have left for the 4Kids series to get released on dvd before it's no longer an option. Five years maybe? I can definitely see some time around the turn of the decade, tv shows only being available digitally through stuff like itunes, amazon, ondemand, netflix, etc.

OWCH. I'd still buy that. If they forced me to buy the entire quadrilogy of Transformers and the two-pack of Bayturtles to get the first four seasons of 4Kids TMNT, I'd do it in a heartbeat, no questions asked.

We'll get what we want. We just have to be patient. It will happen. It will come.

Seeing as The Next Mutation has had multiple DVD releases at this point, I think there is hope for 2k3.

What they really should do is put it on Netflix and monitor the viewing stats.

Those sets were from Shout Factory, right? I've asked if they could gain the rights to 2K3 numerous times and they never seemed interested.

Probably because there are already so many TMNT 2K3 DVDs already. Even if they mostly suck, with 3-4 out-of-order episodes per disc, the sheer volume of them might scare Shout into thinking no one will buy their discs if there are so many others - that their own releases will get lost in the sea of Funimation DVDs and never turn much profit.

Yeah, but we all had an entire closet's worth of Fred Wolf TMNT DVDs when we were kids. We eventually got the entire show on DVD from Lionsgate.

I don't think Shout is even an option right now since Nick currently owns the rights to it.

Honestly, no idea.

I have zero interest in owning the Fred Wolf DVDs, though I might get, I dunno, Seasons 1-3 for my son? He likes it, but he's young enough that I don't mind.

As for the 4Kids DVDs, I am not about (nor able) to spend God knows how much money hunting down each individual 3-4 episode DVD across Ebay, Amazon, and Craigslist.

As long as Youtube hosts the 4Kids show for free, I'm not spending a dime on 3-4 episodes a disk. Come at me with season sets and I will gladly take out a second mortgage, because at that point, I'm probably willing to pay anything.

Funimation was going in a good direction with the Season 1 and 2 sets. Shame they stopped.

Didn't they stop because Nick got the rights?
