Honestly, how else was that ambush on Leo gonna go?
And why do I get the feeling Raph's getting ideas when he comments on how Alopex just gobbles it (the food) all up? |

I kind of like how we aren't relying on a color to tell who Raphael is though. It's refreshing.

Please show multiple ongoing plots instead of just mutant town!

So... I'm guessing the petition fell on deaf ears.

Frankly, having occasionally written things of a similar bent (like, suspiciously similar... in fact so many elements of my ideas have turned up in IDW's books over the years that I'm beginning to wonder if someone's hacked my hard drive), I can see why this style would appeal to some folks.
BUT. I'm also pretty sure - and I've said this with regard to why nobody but my wife and a very small number of people have or will ever read my stuff - it simply isn't what most people want from a commercial product that says "TMNT" on the cover. Like what might make an amusing fanfic read to pass a quiet afternoon isn't what someone wants to pay $4 to read monthly. Even if it's a well-written and well-executed exploration of concept it's not necessarily what the audience at large wants. Pretty sure that most people putting their money down want something with a little bit more testosterone and a little less "meet-cute" stuff. That's just the temperature I'm getting from people.

It wasn't a thread, I just hear things.
You got an email by the way. Unrelated but relevant.

At one point I was asked if I would participate in such a grassroots movement, but I respectfully declined. I'm not gonna "out" anybody who may have been involved, though, that's their business. They can speak up if they wanna, but I doubt they will.
I mean, the last guy who had a super-strong opinion about the book and said so out loud got Banned permanently. They were also probably a Banned member using a fake account anyway, which probably had more to do with the Ban, but it didn't do much to change the idea that you "can't openly criticize the TMNT Staff". Which is how a lot of members here feel, which is why they don't say much out loud. Either way, I'm guessing it didn't gain much traction.

That definitely sucks. Honestly we shouldn't be hanging around here and stifling reader discussion with our presence, anyway.

I wouldn't say all that. Engagement is a good thing, generally speaking.
There's just been a long and storied history around here of TMNT staff not being altogether the most graceful at handling criticism. It happens whether or not they're actively speaking out loud. Laird used to use the Vol. 4 letter column to paraphrase me directly and address my Jim Lawson criticisms nearly word-for-word. He was obviously lurking here often even though he never said anything. That's life. It didn't change my opinion nor how I chose to speak it just because "The Boss" didn't like it. The way I figure it, he could come to me about if it he felt like. I'm not altogether hard to find. I just thought it was comical that he'd rather use his own soapbox as a way of rebuttal and avoid being direct about it. Like, he can say my opinion doesn't matter, but he's taking time out of his day to address it very publicly and people are paying for the privilege of reading it, sooooo... Kinda said more about Him than about Me, I figure. And then there was the Ciro guy who decided to take his ball and leave when not everyone loved the Nick show at first. I wasn't here for that, people just told me about it. Pretty funny. Surely he would have been absolutely thrilled to meet me. Shame that never came to pass. And of course, Ant Ward and his "ban that guy or we'll have our lawyers look into shutting this place down". That was a fun time. Point being, I think the people here are grateful for the engagement. But some of the creatives don't take well to dissent, they overreact, and thus, it makes people feel like they "can't talk" sometimes. But that doesn't mean that "the staff" aren't welcome or shouldn't engage. I just think there's just always going to be some awkwardness there.
