So it's a self-published Japanese fan zine, this one specifically with Turtle stories. I wish I knew more about this.

I think the Japanese term for that kind of fan-made smut is "Doujinshi."

Yeah, he mentions it's a less smutty smut, with only flirting between the brothers...which is still very....um....yeah.

But, it's existence is still an interesting footnote.

From what I've seen on ebay, there's a whole slew of those kind of books listed there.

TMNT doujins? I'm surprised there's an active market for that over there. It's weird knowing that there's a whole separate demographic of TMNT fans on the tumblr/deviantart side of things that aren't 30-something Drome users. I wonder what they think of this place?

AFAIK, Japanese fandoms for Western properties are not that big. Even for "Western-like" properties, like Metal Gear or Castlevania.

But their quantity is compensated with a quality and they are usually very big fans of those things.
I remember I was very surprised to find some really cool fanarts based on Mortal Kombat and this fighting game is practically has no presence in Japan, due to the violence and the fact that Japan has plenty of fighting games of their own.
