I never heard of the comics either, and I enjoyed it just fine without that.

Most people never heard of the GOTG before the movie. That's why I think it did so well, because it was interesting and new, unlike Ant-Man, which doesn't have much going for it. I really hope Ant Man makes money, because it isn't advertised as much and not many people outside of comic fans are excited for it. Whatever, as long as the movie is good I don't give a f*ck about box office.

Regarding Ant-Man, I'm really looking forward to a superhero movie that isn't about saving the world from destruction. It'll be a nice change of pace especially after Age of Ultron. I'm a sucker for a good heist movie too.

Or the fact that they called Gamora just about every derogatory name in the book. And quite a few other elements that were aimed at a more mature audience.

What, like me? I'm not "hard-core" Marvel fan (though I used to be fairly so) but even I knew very little about most of these characters. In fact, of the five main characters, the only one I knew anything about was Gamora. And Thanos. Everyone else was still relatively unknown even to me- but the Guardians have had a varied roster much like the Avengers, and some of them are fairly obscure. But it was a fun movie, in spite of that.

Guardians was fun. I love me anything with a Lee Pace in it (although his role was pretty bland). And it was a nice setup for Infinity Gauntlet, which I'm pretty pumped for.

As long as Gunn stays on I'll be happy. #Troma

Yes, I'm stoked for the Infinity Gauntlet, too. That's a story I've loved for years!

And it's gonna be a two-parter! It's going to be huuuuge!

I mean, not as huge as it's supposed to...but still, huge. :3

Huh, didn't know that. Should be fun, then. Can't wait! Thanos is my favorite "cosmic" villain- more interesting than Galactus, and less uber-destructive than Dark Phoenix....

I think most people had never heard of them either, that's what made it such a big surprise.

Yes, and that's what made the movie so good. And now people can research the comics if they want to.

I enjoyed it for the opposite reason. Unlike Man of Steel, where I've read Superman comics for years and I wanted to stand in the theatre and scream "stop getting Superman wrong"!!!!

With Guardians I had no previous knowlegde of the franchise, so that kind of fanboy nonsense didn't enter my head. I could just sit back and enjoy the movie!

Loved the first movie, reminded me of The Fifth Element and Heavy Metal and Star Trek/Wars in some ways, i've been a fan of the comics for a long time and i was surprised.

Why would you want a super serious movie? not everything is The Dark Knight trilogy, what is this mentality of nolan wannabes? what works for Batman doesn't work for heroes like Spider-Man or such.

They've cast the first role for GOTG 2. Mantis or Moondragon maybe?

Too bad they couldn't get McConaughey for the villain role.

All I know (and love) about GotG I learned from the 2014 movie. So I got no clue who Mantis is, or who Moondragon is other than she's Drax's daughter, but I trust James Gunn.

That man can take my money any day.
