Almost no one does. Given the chance, they'd love all eyes on them.

Well then I guess I'm a part of "almost." Never been one that wanted nor cared to be center of attention or want all eyes on me, though I'm certainly not alone and I don't know anyone who'd do that crap on those sites. People who are desperate for attention like that are annoying.

Like all these girls who put up videos of themselves on these sites, obviously nobody is forcing them to do it (as far as we know), and they want to put videos up of themselves in either swimsuits, underwear, revealing clothing, etc....

Yet these same people act outraged if men comment on them or bring it up. Like...you are the people doing it. Cover up with more clothing and stop making these sexy-related videos then.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing that bugs me, the cases where it's disingenuous. Obviously everyone is an individual but with some people it's very obvious that the whole "I don't want this kind of attention!" bit is fake. And as I've mentioned before, a huge chunk of people I've ever hung out with have been women, and some of them have flat-out admitted that they only get "offended" when the guys giving them attention aren't the kind of guys they WANT giving them attention. Like it's okay if they think you're hot, otherwise it's "disrespectful".

That kinda thing bugs me because not only is it disingenuous, it's also kinda mean. Like, okay, I'm not exactly special, but just by nature of my wrestling gig I do get some chicks who I know only really follow me on FB or whatever because they think I'm attractive; they're not shy about this. And some of them are... well, "not my type", let's put it that way. But it's not like I'm mean to them or even discourage any interaction, I just take it as a compliment. Most of them are even friends with my wife, which can be a bit strange but also flattering when they start teaming up making comments about what a big deal I supposedly am.

But it's not like I'd ever do the "You're not allowed to think I'm attractive!" bit that some people do. In my experience, that's what the "I don't want this kind of attention!" thing comes from when it's people who obviously do go out of their way to seek attention. They want that attention, just only from "certain types" of people.

I totally agree. They are annoying. I am the introvert that likes to remain mysterious. The one that only speaks when spoken to. I did all of that attention seeking stuff when I was a teenager. Now, in my thirties, I don't care what society thinks of me. I post nerdy stuff on my social media because it is what defines me as a person. No fakes just pure awesomeness.

My positioning is almost 100% of the time actually about this.

Disingenuous people absolutely lose their minds when you call them on it. But of course they hate it - you are invalidating these people completely and utterly when you call them on their invented issues.

It'd be like some middle-aged, life long retail rat who directs her anger at stirring $#!( up by complaining about younger coworkers and getting people fired while claiming that she has higher conduct and cares about the job. But it's disingenuous. It's a lie where that person is basically living that kind of life when actually she's angry at having no real structure, living a life stuck on prepaid phone cards, retail salary and being lonely. Instead of fixing herself, it's easier to virtue signal and hurt other people. Basically disingenuous people begin to rely on lies or retorts like "you aren't the God of opinions!" or "Opinions can't be wrong!" or telling someone that they are ignoring them instead of.... you know just actually ignoring them. LOL! That kind of disingenuous liar.

That crazy example that I just made up just now is the painting of a picture of many disingenuous people doing all of the things in society that somehow we discuss here on the Technodrome forums.

I mean, harmless compliments are one thing and a person is stupid to get offended over that. No one is that special that other people aren't allowed to notice they exist unless they're the "right" people. Now, if someone's random attention is too forward, that might be a different matter.

From personal experience... Have the few guys that have complimented on the Covid-length hair in the past months been anyone I'd have wanted to know more? Not really. But they weren't being weird about it or anything, so nothing wrong there.

Well, my opinion on this matter is like this: If a chick is dancing wit dem tittays and booty out, I am going to be as forward as possible. If you put yourself out there as a slut, be prepared to be treated and spoken to like one. That is like going to a strip club as a heterosexual man and watching naked babes just to compliment on their hair, heels, and attire before it is taken off. IT AIN'T HAPPENIN!

I still have no idea as to what it's actually for, only that people use it. Then again, that's not too surprising. I don't keep up with social media stuff so much and I don't use it a lot.

I can't even be assed to remember to look at my Instagram. I don't think I've updated it once since the day I got it. I only even got it at the insistence of someone I was friends with who I no longer speak to, so I kinda wish I never even bothered.

How many of these fad sites/apps are a lot alike anyhow? Maybe I'm just "old," but I can't really even see the point of a new one each time one of these gets attention.

'Course, I never saw that much of a point in Twitter either.

Feel free to spare us the (red text) details next time, Iroh...

I use a lot of the social media platforms basically for marketing. My actual personal pages are, at this point, artifacts.

At my age I don't feel the need for NEW social media. If I have something to share to the people of the net forums are my go-to place. I have a fb page, like everyone else of course, so that people that I know can reach me if they don't have my phone but that's it. I won't share my bio or my data there, I won't post my photos: I don't see the point in doing it.
I'm kind of a shy guy (but I'm working on it) but I will never ever try to flirt with a woman on the net, that just feels wrong to me. I prefer to take courage and talk to women in real life even if it's more difficult.
These days people are desperate for attention, not sure when it all started. I frankly consider it a mental disorder. I mean, if you feel the need to share photos of you wearing pants in sexy poses or doing stupid stuff, well, you have a problem. But people don't even think about it anymore now, it's like at some point it started to be a common behavior for boys and girls to be in front of a camera doing the most questionable stuff and share it with the rest of the world. Everyone wants to be a model or an influencer and they think exposing their ass online is the shortest way to obtain the job of their dreams. Weird era.

I feel the biggest problem of Onlyfans is-

1- With so many women on it, the chances of a newcomer 'making it big' is very remote unless you're like a 12/10. That was last year when the fad started during the first months of the pandemic but by now the um.. market is supersaturated.

2- So many women have given up looking for work or any other options and see Onlyfans as their only option anymore. Um... wut?

3- If they do make bank, that money doesn't last long enough to even see the bank. It'll be all gone once their bubble bursts, no thought of saving and investing. No long-term thinking.

4- Again lack of foresight. Ain't no regular job gonna hire you after you been known as the Onlyfans girls for 3-4 years. Same thing happens to regular porn stars when they hang it up and try to get normal work.

As for TikTok, it's stupid and full of weirdos going after kids. No thanks.

I love this! Actually, Instagram died when they merged with Facebook. People started to flock to Tiktok and Twitter when this happened. I am a social media personality and I market myself and my content on the side of my 9 to 5 to get more income. I don't need my contacts to know my side hustle because there are too many haters out there that want to see you fall.

That is probably wise.

More than a decade ago now I was doing some writing gigs online as a fun side hustle. I picked up a regular contributor spot at a - at that time - newer video game website where I was pounding out material for them daily.

I also worked as a college Advisor full-time then, and two of the guys that worked in Academics with me were just losing their minds over the fact that I was doing it. Up until that point I had good relationships with these guys, and here suddenly they'd try to poke any hole in anything they could. One of them was a legit, reclusive video-game nerd too and his best play was to take up a heavy position against that I wrote a fun, small piece about a demo that we had access to - swearing up and down how that was out of integrity because it wasn't the full game. It said write in the article that we were given time with "XYZ Demo" - it was what is now standard fare for sites like that. Ironically, as I understand it, a different opinion piece that I wrote about the direction of a certain popular and prolific game I.P. is still, to this day, the most clicked article on the site, and I wrote that probably 12 years ago or so now.

The point is that it doesn't matter how quality your "public facing" work is - there are always people that are going to hate on you. And then one day they look away for a moment and are shocked when they look back and you have followers, a business model and some kind of income stream coming in.

I'm grateful for every supporter I've ever had in any business endeavor because they completely outshine the haters almost every time.

It is very wise! When you love doing something that is bringing you success, there are certain individuals in your contacts that would love to blackmail you by trying to release your personal information. For example, there are millionaires that stream on twitch due to their popularity. Their close contacts from previous employers would get mad and demand a cut. If they don't receive their dues, they would swat the streamer or call the streamer by their real name. The nerve of some fools...
