CFC emissions are increasing despite their worldwide ban, and 40-60% are from China

And thus, are exposed to the greatest amount of UV radiation from the sun, and have the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/lifes...ld-report.html

Remember to turn your water and lights off! Ignore the mile high piles of burning tires in China and India, environmental problems are AMERICAS fault.

Stand by Your Home Electronics
If that is so important, why not ban production of new standby products? These days are so many television set and equipmant you can't turn off, just put in standby mode.

That’s my point. Any damage we do to the environment is miniscule to the damage being done by 3rd world countries and corporations. America is f*cking beautiful even in it’s biggest cities, especially compared to the smog-hole that is China.

Wonder how big a fight they're going to put up when they're told to stop.

Yes. Richer countries may pollute a little bit more, but they also have more money to invest in switching to more environmental-friendly products.

My electric bill was ten dollars higher this month than last month. I definitely need to do a better job turning off lights!

It's a bit like going in a room where 100 people are smoking cigarettes, and a security guard tells you to put out yours. Only you, nobody else. What's the point?

That's fine for shorter distances. But I wonder how Greta Thunberg will get to New York City in September and Santiago de Chile in early-December this year? Boat across the Atlantic Ocean? Train across the Trans–Siberian Railway?

Hopefully a lot of the 1st world countries that buy these imports from China and India will put economic pressure on these countries to clean up their act.

A lot of lack of information and ignorance in this thread. America produces tons of trash every year more than many other countries, it's not like it's the clean capital of the world. Yes, every little bit helps. Yes, you should use less polluting energy and go for more expensive green energies because rich countries can afford it easily unlike poorer countries. We only have one planet and blaming others or going "they do it why can't we" isn't going to help anyone, get your head out of your ass and think globally for once.
Poor countries are dealing constantly with survival hence their need to use these dirty energies. It doesn't excuse them completely but if rich countries were able to pollute the planet and profit from it for decades, is it really fair? Also some developing countries like China are indeed investing a lot of money in green energies. Also if we divide the population with the amount of their carbon foot print I can assure you America has one of the biggest, China only pollutes as much because of the population. With that said, yes India and China are a huge problem because of their population size and sadly even with all the effort and all of the laws China are doing to prevent it, it's merely working as a way to not make the problem much worse. I mean it's good but far from what we need. India is also a huge concern since they're investment in green energies is far lower. I do think it's the responsibility of rich countries to help them out, developed countries became that because of riding on the back of the developing ones, not just because 'they were better'. Luckily at this moment Africa in general isn't as big of a problem with creating pollution but if things are not taken care of, there'll be the next China/India in various countries there. Latin America has had enough economic problems to care about ecology but over the past decade that attitude has changed, they've felt the effects of climate change and pollution and despite not being financially stable many countries are investing heavily in green and they have a far smaller footprint than developed countries. If poor countries are willing to sacrifice their way of life because of the planet, it's just petty for developed countries to whine about it, what a shame. |

I think everyone should provide actual statistics/ case studies before this thread gets out of hand and to prevent miscommunication and accusations of false claims.

And if you have read it, you don't understand it. If you want to read it, it's only 14 pages long. Check it out here. If you don't, I figure this will help when you and Refractive Reflections head out to the Straight Pride Parade. For anyone interested in not being ignorant of the current political dialogue: 1. The Green New Deal is not a law. It can't be signed into effect. It has almost no power what-so-ever. It's a House Resolution, which basically means a suggestion. The United States COULD adopt the suggestions within the Green New Deal as a guide for future legislation. More, there's nothing forcing us to adopt every single suggestion IN the Green New Deal. 2. The suggestions in the Green New Deal are not only nebulous, but they mirror a lot of what Trump and the Alt-Right has been demanding for a long time. If you've noticed, there's a bit in there about making companies hire local workers rather than outsourcing or hiring illegal immigrants, for example. 3. The myths about outlawing cows and airplanes is not in there at all. In fact, the opposite is present. The Green New Deal is careful to point out that all action taken must be fair and feasible. 4. The idea that our taken action against climate change is stupid is. . .well, stupid. I have no idea why some people are so quick to resign us all to fate because they're afraid of being slightly uncomfortable. America was once a land that championed science and innovation. It's why we were the first in flight. It's why we were the first to split the atom. It's why we cured polio. It's why we put a man on the Moon. Now we're a land of "Oh, that sounds like it might hurt a little, let's hide under the covers like wussies."

Ernest Rutherford in Manchester England in 1917 would like to suggest otherwise heh. In a way, why John Logie Baird didn’t completely invent the TV, the concept was proven by Russians about ten years prior but only transmitting static images.

Should we talk about the part of the "Green New Deal" where everyone "unwilling" to work gets a paycheck anyway?
