The part where Tyler threatens a guy to start studying again? Not sure what to make of it, honestly. It's pretty weird that this disruptive anarchist encourages someone to get a legitimate career through positive means, when he's otherwise engaged in dehumanising training of terrorists.

Who? Tyler? Not counting what's revealed in the comic, Tyler is just a figment of the main character's imagination, and that guy did not have much in terms of traumatic experiences. Tyler is more like a manifestation of boredom frustration in regards to his meaningless existance, an attempt to take control he felt others unjustly had over his life. He's seriiously disturbed, of course, but it's not PTSD.

No i mean Raymond, do you think after that incident he suffered from PTSD by a guy who talks to himself and was held up at gunpoint and threatened by someone who talks to himself?

The scene is important to the movie because it solidifies to the audience that the the Narrator (who represents his generation at that time) has a need to not simply create anarchy, but to reach out and change the world with a purpose. This same need for purpose is what also drives him to take in others into the Fight Club militia.

It's basically one of the few instances that show that they are trying to do more than just blow **** up.

Tyler is a protagonist and he is heroic within the framework of the story, but he is not a hero.

Tyler is quite villainous indeed. His actions cause more harm than good and what little good comes out it is ambigious at best. His ambition is little more than destruction.

He is both a protagonist and an antagonist. He is a companion protagonist to the Narrator, but later revealed to be an antagonist. But his actions in the context of the "militia" are heroic. But he is not a hero in any context.... But the real irony is that his conceptualization from within the mind of the Narrator is about heroic & release & purpose.

It really is a masterful story.

I have, it's a really weird one. Basically, while does act as a sequel to the book, it's also about the author of the book trying to write a sequel that makes sense. What's presented is a world in which the author exists in and has limited control of the world he has created. It's bizarre and seems to poke fun at the idea of making a sequel to a story like Fight Club, more than it is or want to be a sequel to Fight Club. It totally is a sequel, it does have a narrative that continues from book's, just be aware that there's a lot of post-modern story telling. Which might be why the author went from a novel to a comic, it could be easier to distance it from the original story that way.
