Quick question but I recently got the TPB of volume 12 of IDW. Do all subsequent TPB have just 3 collected issues or are 45-47 longer er what? Just curious becaus eI may need to go back just to getting the individual comic books.

Volume 12 includes the Free Comic Book Day special, making it a 4 issue trade. TMNT #50 is double length, making Volume 13 a 4 issue trade (essentially).
From Volume 14 on they'll be 5 issues per trade. |

Yes, with #50 onward. As to why, if I had my guess that milestone probably felt like a good time for the redesign, and why not? It reminds me of the way "Eastman & Laird's" would appear over the logo back in the day and doesn't get in the way of the art like the old sidebar did.

I'm new to the IDW comic. I recently got issues #52 and #53. I'm totally lost.

If you want the full experience, it's best just to go back and start with #1. #1-50 and the associated mini-series (which totals like 80 or 90-ish issues) are best read in chronological order. As the book has come out, there have been various one-shots and mini-series that tie into the ongoing. This series has tight editing that extends to the minis, so (almost) everything "counts," and you miss a lot of world-building if you only read the main series. The hardcover collections IDW are putting out have the issues arranged that way, though they're nowhere near catching up to the trades. There's a thread for chronology to make reading order easy here. |

The IDW comic is best enjoyed if you read everything. Thankfully IDW released trades of everything, as well as put the episodes up online digitally, so its easy for new readers to catch up.

I haven't read them yet. I started but couldn't get into it. So I'm going to grab the previous issues and get caught up.

This thread seems like a good one to ask this in, I want to buy the IDW mirage comics reprints but it gets a little confusing can someone tell me which ones I should buy to get all of them. I wish I was into comics when I was younger so I would not be having this problem.

Unfortunately, one of our sources of info is the IDW TMNT "Ask the Editor" forums, which have been down since... I think Thanksgiving, honestly. Nobody over there seems to give an F. Bobby said he's pinged their IT or whoever, but still... no action. I'm sure he's just as frustrated.

What do you guys think about me moving the "ask the editor" thread to... here?

Reads great to me. So many of us dedicated readers such as myself are not on the IDW boards and have quite a bit we would ask if such a thread exist.

Yeah, absolutely! I've never bothered to get an account on IDW, but I checked it quite regularly to keep up on all the intel you'd dish out. Would love to have it here...

Given the issues with the IDW forums, why not I say?
