One common denominator is the freakin' high shell. What's up with that?

Kind of dug these until they showed up with the "costumes" on further down.

I'm more embracing of horrifying "realistic" Turtles than most, though. I'm generally of the opinion that they shouldn't be cute in a realistic take.

ACTUALLY... While these are terrible for the turtles themselves.... I think it would make a perfect design for a movie version of slash.... think about it, a diffrent kind of Turtle, and in Archie, an alien...

Not only are these the worst designs I've EVER seen. But at what point did the artist fail to understand the concept of Ninjas??? "I know I'll just add some guns and bullets because you know that will be much cooler"

Obviously from back when they were going to be aliens. Those are interesting designs but would have been a huge mistake for a TMNT movie. Eh, in general I don't feel like they need to go so crazy with the 'realistic' approach. Why can't they just look like the Ninja Turtles?

Look at that, we kind of agree!

They still look too much like tortoises rather than turtles in the face, and not into the ultra high nose, the odd feet and body proportions, but ultimately, yes to more turtle less human.

@ Jester - I'm also not a fan of the High Shell.

And YES to no trace of Shrek, or the Actors faces.

The gun thing, and the clothes, need to go far, far, far away. Why do the artists keep thinking the turtles need to be more "bad-ass". The words "bad" and "ass" have lost all meaning.

Bad ass isn't shooting someone with a gun; it's attacking them with gardening tools, and winning.

and suddenly, humanoid lips and a snout with nostrils are my favorite things about these turtles....

im still one that thinks the end results were fine, but im glad to know that compared to some ideas, their masterpieces

This is why I can't stand the Hollywood mindset. Far too often it looks like people who don't give a damn about the material they're working on trying to reinvent the wheel. Those don't even look like Ninja Turtles. At least in the new film, you can tell they're supposed to be the Turtles, even if they are ugly.

And it says 2011! was this suppose to be the alien Turtles they were talking about?

Really though, I think I could dig seeing those models as alien bad guys if they went for an original story. That might actually be pretty cool. Humans are, for some reason, at a loss for how to fight these beings...our Turtles are all like, Stand back humans, we got this.

That second pic, the chest/headshot that's at an angle and oddly thick head... I can only imagine the insulting comments that would come out of Raph's and/or Mikey's mouths. (That one line from Predator comes to mind. lol)
