I was kind of hoping that the figures would suck so I wouldn't be tempted to dive in again, but there's a lot to like here.
Seeing a trend with these villain figures -cloven hooves. With the mystical theme the show is going with it seems like the turtles will be facing some demonic threats. |

The figures actually look fairly solid, I mean I'm not a fan of the designs , but for what they had Playmates created some pretty decent figures. Kinda surprised me.

I'm warming up to everything after that full toy reveal. I'm optimistic that because of the simple, sharp design and full animation representation that finally Playmates will get the paint apps and details correct and STOP LYING TO US. Van, bikes, and playset all look awesome.

Don't worry, the show will be cancelled after 2 seasons and with that so will the toy line end. This is a repeat of next mutation.

Don't engage. This is the toy section, anyway.

I've been waiting to weigh in about the new show's designs. But since I ended up summing them up recently elsewhere, I might as well share them here too.
I can understand why people would be concerned about the upcoming series. The sudden shift in style and the way that it simplifies the designs is very reminiscent of the Back to the Sewers season of the 2003 and shows like Teen Titans Go! And let's face it, neither of those examples turned out very well. But as long as they aren't just cutting costs, and they put the same kind of effort into the stories as the 2012 series, I think it will still find a place in fans' hearts. As for the toy line, at a glance it actually looks like they did fairly well at capturing the look of the new design. They seem far closer than the series one toys from 2012 were to the show designs. Of course it is still Playmates, and they still had to make a series of deluxe Turtles that don't fit with anything else nor have any enemies to fight. They still had to create a random set height for all of the figures instead of creating accurate scaled figures. (I'm still under the assumption that they do that to allow all the figures to fit in the vehicles.) Perhaps the one thing that gives me the most hope for this line and for the show is the Turtle Tank and Turtle Lair photos. Both seem to show that Playmates is really going all out for this relaunch. Contrast that with what they did for Back to the Sewers or the Out of the Shadows movie. The first had almost no merchandise branded to it (they did make the mini code runners at least) and the 2016 movie got a slight update to a sewer lair set that they had already released twice. For the most part, I think they seem to have a decent offering of figures and toys to support the show. Now we just have to hope the show is worthy of that support. |

So I'm definetively down for a April, Origami Foot and Foot Lieutenant. Still not sold on the Turtles, sculpts just too buttery and weird looking, if only the large figures where the actual 5" figures cause that large size Leo looks 1000x better then the Basic one. I wonder what's up with Basic Mikey getting all his weapons translucent, maybe they're all magically summoned/created weapons compared to the other Turtles that seem to enhance their existing weapons? |

Teen Titans Go is doing extremely well. It's getting a theatrical film.

If I have any complaint it's really that splinter. He just looks odd. Not bad just odd. His shape is unconducive to an articulated figure and I feel a toy of aninja master should have some level of movement.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but all of the reaction that I have seen towards the new show has been fairly negative. I don't recall ever having seen someone indicate that they thought that the changes were an improvement to the show.

Mostly just interested in April and a new van. But the turtles themselves have such weird (look like neanderthals) looking heads that I have no interest in getting them.

I see Playmates has no desire to claw their way out of the clearance rack anytime soon...

I kinda like the toys. If I can make it work in my display I'm in for the Sewer lair and van.
