Spoiler:
He starts the video by rapping about how much he HATED this one.

It's Beauty & the Beast...a live-action remake of the 1991 version. What could Doug and Rob possibly spoil?

Some people are so sensitive to spoilers I feel like they won't even watch/read the movie/show/comic book in question.

But yeah in this case it's totally irrelevant if you're familiar with the original film

Just got back from my "double date"! This. Movie. Was. AMAZING! I don't know who was saying Emma can't sing, because I thought her voice was just fine. A little weak on higher notes maybe but pretty decent. As for the acting and costumes, the CG and songs- everything was FANTASTIC! Some of the songs had new verses that were actually even more entertaining- "Gaston" and "Be Our Guest" especially- and there were a couple of "new" songs not in the original, but I loved them. The score was so perfect to the original, and the bits with Lefou were so funny! And yes, Menken's comments notwithstanding, it was clear that he IS gay. But it came off really as a man-crush/envy kind of thing, with hints that he wasn't happy with their um, "relationship". Lumiere and Cogsworth were so enjoyable, and even Chip had a couple of fun bits. It wasn't an EXACT beat for beat remake, but that actually made it better than if it was. Also- Gaston was actually WORSE in this version! Can't tell how without spoiling details but let's just say even Kefou had misgivings about his actions.

I saw it and I thought it was good. Was this an amazing film? Not really, but I still liked it. It stayed very true to the source material and the classic songs worked well. The IMAX 3D really made me feel like I had been transported into a fantasy world. The setting looked amazing. Watson was solid, but not incredible. I have seen better performances from her including those from her post-'Harry Potter' career. She was a step-up from Emilie de Ravin's version of the character on Once Upon a Time (who's only show decent acting in the show's current season) Dan Stevens was okay, but once again I have seen him shine better in other films. Robby Benson brought a lot more depth and personality to the character in the animated film. The supporting cast were excellent IMO.

Spoiler:
The gay moment that has been making headlines really was blown out of proportion. It literally lasted two seconds and was hardly noticeable like the scene was Sulu and his family in Star Trek: Beyond. I did like the new scene where Belle and the Beast magically visited the home where Belle was born. The twist where the Enchantress brought everyone to life after the last petal fell was also neat. Plus, we now know why the villagers forgot all about the nearby castle. It was because the Enchantress had erased everyone's memories of it.

I saw it yesterday and I really liked, this is how you do a remake. I just hope they do as good of a job with the Little Mermaid.

I left out a few critiques in my review:

Spoiler:
* I liked how in the cartoon that the Beast had Belle close her eyes before surprising her with the library. In this one I think he just opens the doors and she follows him inside. That scene was obviously done better in the original.

* I know that they couldn't retain every line from the original, but I did miss a few of the most memorable ones like "There's the usual. Flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep." Plus, I could be wrong, but I don't think Chip said "Do I still have to sleep in the cupboard?" I'll have to see it again to make sure.

I just got back from seeing it, and totally would do it again. And I admit, I got a little weepy during the dance scene, since it's one of my favorite moments in movie history.

There was a hope that Gaston had his own personal enchanter following him around, considering the old man at the tavern that was sitting behind him during song. I for one, don't think he deserves to fall from the castle, but rather, deserves to be transmogrified in the same way the Beast was. Except that he might possibly be totally alone in his transformation.

Most of all, I liked how they placed the time period, and even showed the transformation of cosmetic styles between the years of the enchantment and break of enchantment.

Here's an article where Paige O'Hara, the original voice of Belle, is now.

Well considering the movie came out when I was 3.

Yes, I would have assumed so too.

Right now estimates say that the film broke Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's record for the highest weekend debut in March with $170 million.

The film did better than originally estimated. It had an opening weekend of $174.8 million. That total is even higher than the $174.1 million debut for Iron Man 3.

I've been listening to the soundtrack most of class today.

Emma Watson's voice doesn't bug me too much, and I've realized that Dan Stevens' voice might have been lowered in pitch a little bit, but it works where necessary.

I realized that I really enjoyed the two new songs too.

Malaysia will screen the film without any of the scenes being cut. However, it will be rated PG-13 in their country.
