My first and most important take-away from this preview is that the Dragon Lord apparently has a counterpart of some sort. The plot thickens.

Damn, all the covers are so freaking gorgeous, but especially the one with 90's Shredder sitting on the throne!

And is that Bay!Shredder standing over the fallen Turtles in the last one? (I mean, even though they don't have noses...)

I really hope this mini lives up to it's potential, it looks really good so far. Artwork is amazing and the story should be good.

Yes he has greatly help and expanded the lore of TMNT with History of the Foot clan.

Oh boy, here we go !

"Dear dad, please take the dried out corpse of a man I've most definitely had children with hundreds of years ago for you to occupy"
Does the spirit realm have Freudian Psychology?

So! Who's the dude with the green? Tatsuo Takeshi? The Dragon Lord? Who the flip is the Dragon Lord's "counterpart"??? The Phoenix maybe?

Saki says he's the voice whispering in the back of his head all his life. The voice speaks as if they were the same person. So my guess is that it is Takeshi. Their spirits were separated as Saki died, if that makes any sense? That's my theory anyway.

I wonder if this miniseries will see shredder take his place as a warlord of hell, and have the dragon lord return in his headless body.

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

Santo was saying a while back that there's going to be a lot of Akira influence in this one....I'm hyped.

Spoiler:
Oh god, I'm so glad this was released back to back with the 20/20 issue, because that left a bitter taste in my mouth for some of the reasons I listed in that thread.

But this first issue alone is going to get Secret History a run for its money. Saki's beginning of an existential crisis, the Savate zombies and other people he killed, whatever that multi-eyed nightmare fuel is, what I'm guessing is going to be the closest thing the "Dark Turtles".

Also, Rat Splinter just riding around on his shoulder and helping him out. And that one page with Shen.

It's going as I kind of thought it would, with Saki realizing how little control he's had over his own life while he was alive and trying to take back what he never had to begin with.

Of course there's no need to talk about how amazing the art was. But this particular time...Splinter looked so silky. "Let me pet" silky. It was nice to see Splinter being an actual source of wisdom and being truly helpful. Maybe that's why he's kind of gone off the rails in the physical realm? Spiritually, he's not all there. The rest of it is back down to actual rat form hanging out with Saki like they're Dante and Virgil. (...Oh, this is just going to be some kind of Dante's Inferno: TMNT Edition, isn't it???)

I'm already giddy to see what's next, because that was quite the note to end on!

In an image...

It seems the Shredder in hell mini-series would tie in with the main series.

So is the multi-eyed, tentacled thing the Necro Monster from The Darkness Within?

Krang in the back though .

I won't be disappointed if Saki doesn't end up "babysitting" Krang for an issue or two, but that would still be interesting to see.

Saki: General? How are you in this place? It's only for the...

Krang: For the dead, Saki, yes. I'm well aware. As it happens, I was on trial for my, ahem, heroism in another dimension and was devoured by a mutant crocodile I'd tortured into insanity for decades.

Saki: (beat) I miss Feudal Japan.
