Had coffee with a friend and probably got the best track in crocheting well than ever before. Also had a really good D&D game that...went quite a bit longer than normal.

Had our family Thanksgiving dinner today (my family is weird, they always do it early) and made another cheesecake that went over fabulously. Pina colada this time (but no rum because- kids). Gonna make another one for Christmas, and promised everyone I'd add the rum this time, lol!

The people who are in charge at my job had a sandwich truck come and make food for all of the staff. It makes happy to see that they appreciate the work we do.

Got a Wawa gift card with a thank you note in the mail, from someone I can only assume must be a higher manager (perhaps regional?), saying my supervisor had nominated me to receive it.

Another nice little surprise, apparently Hallmark (who I work for) gives employees a special employee-only Keepsake ornament each year and was given that today in a bag with a few other little goodies.

Aww, that's cool! And in direct contrast to the ornament situation I just had. Was putting the Christmas ('scuse me, Solstice) decorations up last night, and one of my Spider-Man ornaments- ironically, a Hallmark one- broke when I dropped it while trying to get it out of the box it came in. And it is from 2016, so it is out of stock and replacing it would cost twice what the retail price is, and that's not even counting shipping. Bummed out about it.

Aw, that sucks. Well, maybe keep an eye on eBay, maybe a good deal on one will turn up eventually?

Yeah, Amazon and the Hallmark site both wanted more than 20$. Ebay had one for 14$, so I might go that route.

I got my Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi Psylocke and Mafex Gwenpool in the mail, and I escaped paying import fees, huzzah. Guess someone didn't check the Yen properly cause both figures plus shipping was like 4x the tax free limit.

My suitcase got delayed at the airport going to Montreal (as I was the absolute last person on the plane - didn't even think I would make it on), so I had to wait a day to get it.
And it arrived! So now I've got my bag - and thus the laptop I was using - and am back here after a day walking around the shops for stuff. I've been having fun so far . Snowed my first morning.

Had a fun weekend. Game day was fun, if short, and had our family Christmas dinner today. The pina colada cheesecake was a no-go, since I discovered late last night when I was about to make it that I had no mix for it. So ended up making cookies instead, but I DID use the vanilla rum in it, and added some mint chocolate chips to them. They came out kind of big and flat like pancakes, as they spread out more than I thought they would- batter was a bit thinner than it should have been- but they were good! My aunt ended up taking most of them as leftovers when we cleaned up after dinner was over, lol!

While I'm not all that fond of the Wench Brigade division of Philadelphia's Mummers parade, I do have to give the next to last group props for their theme this year... Teenage Mutant Ninja Wenches.
Always warms the heart to be reminded how beloved these guys are, that even one of the Mummer's groups (albeit from the least creative and largely chaotic division) chooses them as a theme. Although they lose a point for not including any TMNT related music of any sort... edit: This is just going to look like total insanity to anyone who has no idea what the Mummers is about, but I found video. Spoiler:
It varies a lot, the Wench Brigades category is just kind of insane, unlike the string bands and fancies that try to make a production out of it. (Though all categories are in completion to win prizes.) Was hoping maybe one of the bigger production-like performances might go with them as a theme, but alas no. Maybe someday. No win for this group. Including some Go Ninja Go would have benefited it... Sad maker... And just saw that two guys from one of the other clubs was killed hours after the parade in a head-on crash by a guy supposedly with "self inflicted stab wounds." their club (one of the elaborate costumed string bands) took home second prize. The announcers for the parade always mention those who have passed over the year, how sad that next year will include those two. Last edited by IndigoErth; 01-02-2019 at 03:58 PM. |

Thankfully my gear grind from yesterday turned out to be nothing and exactly what I had a vague hope for. The girl on the phone immediately asked if I was a Hallmark employee -- yup! -- and explained that instead of the letter/bill just going out to those who had enrolled for the vision benefits via Hallmark (which I had not), it accidentally went out to all Hallmark employees.
So, pretty grateful for that. |

Return of D&D Tuesdays and I'm DM. Only three players this time, but it's a interesting bunch of characters: a "human" bard that don't know they are a bard or use real magic and he works as a street magician. A halfling paladin who don't know which god they get their powers from and a Goliath fighter who was separated from his clan and woke up on a completely different mountain then he lived on.
Minor nitpick, the Vietnamese take-out place have moved their closed day to Tuesday, so no more Saigon Special. |

Sounds like an interesting bunch. Our group currently contains a (lately absent) half-elf monk, an elf ninja who is flirty with the monk, a kitsune arcanist, a halfling paladin who has a sadistic side, a pair of sorcerers (half dragon and half vampire, respectively) and an elf druid. With a drow bard and gnome pyromaniac- er, pyromancer elementalist wizard along as NPCs. Very magic-heavy group, though they don't all always show up. The arcanist and ninja are fairly consistent; everyone else kind of drops in and out. They are currently on a quest for a set of artifact skulls (gold, silver, jade, and obsidian) to present as peace offerings in a negotiation between warring tribes of surface drow and triceratopians.
