Jim Nabors TV's Gomer Pyle Dead at 87
The actor who played Gomer Pyle, a staple character of 1960s television died in his sleep in Hawaii after declining health for the past year. Jim Nabors enduring character as the hapless mechanic of foil for the foil of The Andy Griffith Show was known for the character who spun off in his own show, but also for his incredible singing voice. He is a treasure of the Golden Age of television and one of my favorite TV characters as my avatar suggest. We lost an underrated legend.

So sad to hear this news. I love The Andy Griffith Show and I have tons of memories laughing it up with my Dad as we watched Gomer Pyle issue a "citizens arrest", slam a car door too loudly, and get jumbled up with Barney on the floor while trying to be stealthy. I certainly will always have those great memories from Mayberry. Rest in peace Gomer.
