A dumpster in Dover

Don’t know how many people will be interested by this, but I though it worth sharing.

As some of you might know, the house in Dover NH where Eastman and Laird created TMNT no longer exists. Peter made a blog post about its demolition years ago and shared a picture of what it used to look like.

I’ve been working in southern Maine all month, and after putting it off last time I was in the area, I decided to make the most of a weather day and drive by ground zero.

Spoiler:

So I can’t say I was overcome with emotion, or felt the creativity in the air, or that I was particularly upset by the garbage receptacle where such a meaningful night played out 35 years ago. I could only think of one thing, which is my reminder here today: Life at best, is bittersweet.

I remember hearing about this, though I can't remember if the house sat derelict for a while and thus just wasn't upkept, or something else happened to the house (like a fire or flood) that gave reason to demolish.

This brings to my mind the first line of an old Bowie song:

"Nothing remains"

Would it be negative for me to suggest that the current state of that house isn't entirely... inaccurate to the current state of TMNT?

It would be very negative.

Also arguably accurate.

I’m lucky enough to own a piece of siding taken from the house before it was torn down. One man’s trash...

Not if it's notarized and/or comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Some other fitting words that come to mind:

Please, just don't. Don't talk about things you know nothing about.

Welcome back Nines. I am a little sad knowing that the house was torn down......

I agree with others it would be nice if the had a plaque there instead of a dumpster
