Jim Lawson's The Sordid Land
Has anyone been keeping up with Jim Lawson's new comic? He's been releasing a page at a time on his Facebook, blog, and I believe tmblr. If you have what do you think?

I have. Not sure what to make of it yet, but Jim will always have my support. I love seeing new work from him, turtles or not.

I agree, I was excited to see him start a new book especially since hes not doing Dragonfly anymore. It will be interesting to see where he takes this story or as it seems (possibly) multiple story lines. Its a little tough to get a read on it since its being released a single page at a time, but I am looking forward to getting more into it especially since I love his art.

I haven't been reading it, just grabbing each page as it's released. Once we get to a point where I feel I should start reading I will but I hate reading a page a week. It's just a tease.
Speaking of Jim, I just got my copy of A Walk Through Dinosaurland. I can't wait to read that. I was late to the Dragonfly book, what happened with follow up? Did Jim just lose interest or what? I bought the first book and it just seemed like a set up for more. |

All the same characters do appear in The Sordid Land with different names, but now John isn't a turtle anymore

Haven't read any of this yet 'cos I'm waiting for all the pages to be uploaded. He just put up page 23, wonder how many there are total.

I'm the same way. If I had to make a guess based on nothing other than his average Mirage issue I would say around 36-40 but I really have no idea. I wish Jim would print this stuff.

I discussed this topic with Jim:
- 50 pages were uploaded on the blog - 32 pages were completed and not posted - The whole story would have been about 120 pages And to quote him: "It's funny- that originally was a future Turtle story with an old Leonardo meeting another character of mine- Guzzi LeMans. I switched around the characters so as not to use Leo but instead the Oni guy. Leo was going to be called Oni anyways. The child in the story originally was a clone of Shadow. " I'm sure if people start asking him about this unfinished story, it could trigger his motivation to wrap it up. |
