I fully agree. I commend NECA for being thrifty but still making it amazing, but I wouldn't give them an award for it either. He looks so cool, and I hope to own him.

They have less flaking, improved joints (less prone to breaking) and somewhat less reused parts. For example, early figures like Triceraton had significant paint chipping, the ankles broke on two of mine because of a tumbling mishaps, and of course, it shares the exact tail as leatherhead (it shouldn't have the spikes). However, future figures like Robo Bebop and Rocksteady are much more sturdy, has less unpainted parts and there's no flaking as far as I can tell. The Mirage figures that I own such as Shadow Shredder (Loot Crate) and Fugitoid have zero issues and it looks to be that way based on early reviews of the upcoming Casey and Slash. So, in short, I would say there's been a significant quality/quality control boost overall. Usagi Yojimbo for example, is pretty much as perfect as it gets.

So has anyone who’s gotten the Archie Slash, painted his fingernails or spikes on his shell yellow?

Me too. I want to, but a lot of my NECA stuff is in this sort of holding pattern while I decide what to do with it long-term.

Decided to open my Slash figure last night just to check it out, and I'm so impressed with it. Gets me pumped for what a potential Archie Armaggon will end up being.

I'm really hoping for Armaggon, Verminator, Ninjara and all the Mutanimals in the Archie Adventures style sometime soon. This is a dream figure line for me.

Definitely keen on the rest of the Mutanimals... and Raph in his wrestling outfit (or just the bottom half, actually I'd prefer him in just the pants).

They didn't yet, but it only seems like a natural evolution of the line.

I'm literally down for just about any figure they could make from Archie TMNT source material. Even the weird annual special one shot characters.

I think a full wave with with the brothers and a BAF Cuddly would be amazing.

Future turtles would absolutely rock my world. I'd probably even go for one Cyber-Samurai version.
