Theory about Scumbug in Mutant Mayhem

After seeing Mutant Mayhem, I thought about whether Scumbug was the cockroach that Splinter befriended as a regular rat. Sure, that cockroach got crushed but many cockroaches can survive for a while even after sustaining injuries. Maybe that some cockroach was taken in by Baxter and mutated.

Scumbug's uniquely bizzare appearance even by Mutant standards might be explained by it being horribly injured, and her affinity for Splinter is connected to their shared past. During the whole movie, I was expecting a twist of Scumbug being 'that' cockroach bit didn't get anything.

Maybe if the writers have this twist in mind, they are saving it for the sequel or the tv series.

Oh darn, I watched the origin story on Youtube again and it looks like I glossed over his dialogue in that scene

Although to be fair, we didn't see him eat the roach so maybe Splinter is being an unreliable narrator or he only partially ate that roach so eh?

Okay, so that roach he ate was a bully to Scumbug and she was grateful for him eating the jerk.
