Pixar's Inside Out

I'm pretty pumped about this movie. Finally getting a non-sequel from Pixar. Plus I love Pete Doctor (Monsters Inc, Up).

They released a new trailer today:

Seems like a good one! Reminds me of one of my favorite cartoon series, Once Upon A Time... Life.

In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school."

So mother has all female emotions and the father has all male emotions

but the daughter has mixed emotions?

already I am confused by this world that Pixar is trying to create

I was curious about why the girl's mind was "mixed gender representation," best I could come up with is that it's like the Daemon in "The Golden Compass" books. Where that sort of thing doesn't set until puberty.

Loved the animation, the gender politics of the parents makes me itchy, but overall I'm excited to see an animated movie in the style of "Herman's Head."

San Francisco hey, what a shocker.

This looks pretty good to me; and interesting idea for a movie anyway.

You guys overthink things.

The reason the parents are so stereotypical is so that the audience doesn't have to jump through any hoops to figure them out. This movie is about discovering the little girl's feelings and emotions as she does; adding in the parents to the mix is just too much to worry about.

The animation in this looks gorgeous. You can really see the emotions on the little girl's face!
