Happy National Pizza Day!
https://www.cbr.com/teenage-mutant-n...s-pizza-first/
CBR celebrates National Pizza Day by taking a look at when the Turtles first ate pizza. Naturally, we know it was the comic adaptation of the 1987 cartoon, but I still thought I would post it. Also its cool of Tom to keep up the tradition!

If I hadn't indulged in a lovely stuffed crust pizza the other day I'd have one today

Didn't one of them hold a pizza in his hand in the original November 1983 drawings by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird?

Doesn't seem so.
Spoiler:
I'd be surprised if there isn't a single pizza or box anywhere within Mirage prior to the first cartoon, but clearly the obsession started on tv. Really do wish I had a pizza in the freezer, and been wishing for a couple of days. Were it not so cold I might actually try to make the effort of going to the store for that and other stuff I've really been wanting. |

Pizza, yes. Toppings, no. Didn't "Garfield & Friends" do a bit about that, once?

I've never met anyone who ate pineapple that wasn't secretly a ratfink Commie.
I got my eye on you, just so you know.

I've never understood the hatred of pineapple on pizza, not my cup of tea, but not gonna fault anyone who wants it. Wife like Hawaiian pizza...and mushroom pizza, too. Neither are my choice...making it fun to agree on a pizza. But that's the joy of pizza, there are so many ways to eat it you could probably eat it everyday like a certain quartet of mutated turtles and by changing it up never get sick of it.

When I was a kid and still ate Pizza Hut, I usually went for the Tropical Pizza, which contained ham and pineapple topping. The only actual people I've encountered online who abhor the mere idea of pineapple on pizza are Italians, to be honest. |

I'm sure many American "bastardizations" of pizza annoy Italians.

When I was a high-schooler, my family was stationed in Aviano, Italy. I swear at one of the supermarkets we saw a Pizza Americana in the freezer section with corn on it....freakin' kernel corn.

Yes, I think I've eatean one of those. Usually here, especially in supermarkets, "Pizza Americana" means "pizza with a lot of stuff always including corn". Because, you know, Americans are big guys that eat a lot. And they eat corn.
But if you go to a pizzeria and ask for a Pizza Americana they will bring you a Pizza Margherita with wurstels and french fries on top, probably because we think Americans eat a lot of hotdogs and fries. Spoiler:

Corn, fries, hotdogs... Can't say I've seen or had those. lol
It's kind of hilarious that Americanized pizza is pretty different than the originals from Italy, and then Italianized-Americanized pizza is itself a bit removed from the typical U.S. varieties. Not that chances aren't high that somewhere some people have probably tried or enjoy those toppings, but I have no idea where. (Maybe those TMNT-themed pizza tasting videos. lol) And I have to agree on the negative opinion of the pineapple. My brother-in-law is one of those that likes it and I've tried to eat a leftover slice a few times, picking the pineapple off and eating it separately, but even then I cringe at it. The flavors of cheese and sauce were just not meant to go with the flavor of pineapple... |

To be fair, it IS kind of an aquired taste. But oh, SO good. Best with chicken, bacon (or ham), and a bbq sauce. A true "Hawaiian" pizza!
