Don't feel sorry for being yourself Jo. These things happen all the time. Just think positive whenever you can. "Tomorrow holds promise for no man", you know. Anything can happen, for better or for worse, but I don't think you'll get any worse. All you need to do is pick yourself up and keep on smiling.

Good thing she's a woman then. I especially appreciate that fact.

I am so sorry for being me sometimes.
Well...I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know how it came to his thinking the opposite of ya,but ya know what,ya may not do EVERYTHING right sometimes, but ya just can't do EVERYTHING wrong.I mean,EVERYTHING.And I'm sure everything will be fine from now on,because the earth's still running, nothing will stop, right?

It's not your fault that you're sick or whatever (sorry, I don't know exactly what your condition is), you shouldn't have to apologise for it. Don't beat yourself up about it.

As for your friend, maybe he was just in a bad mood or something. He's your friend, he's not going to suddenly hate you or whatever. He'll probably IM you again in a couple of days either apologising or pretending nothing's happened.

That's why I don't really talk to my RL friends over the computer... it's much better to just talk in person, and I make sure not to sound like a jerk to my internet friends. It's hard.

And Mecha Cow's statement about him talking with you eventually... I threw my rock solid helmet at my friend's head when I was eight, I think, when we were fighting. We apoligised, what, an hour later?

I'm all in.

I'll even go so far as to pay a $100 bonus to whoever guesses what bizarre, possibly perverted quirk he exudes that finally ends the relationship.

My guess? He constantly rants about using the wayback machine to venture through time so he can have sex with centaurs.

Any takers?

It was much easier when she was completely nuts for Shadow. Things were so much more simple. Now she's got all these dudes...she's be-boppin' and hip-hoppin' over all these different sets of under-developed genitals...it's scary.

If you put her in a room, you could try getting a used baby gate and put it in the door instead of shutting it so she can see the rest of the apartment and not feel so confined. We actually found that a soft light if she's in a room helps calm her down like a night light or something. I hope it gets better It's hard to see them unhappy & not know what they need to make them feel better.
Aww those are all good suggestions. Honestly I think the biggest problem is her need to be close to me all the time. We are her third family. and I think the one before us took her from her mom too early so she has horrible separation anxiety from that and from the fact before we got her she was kept in a cage constantly. The clock is a good idea because she does sleep with me every night. She rips blankets to shreds though.
I used to leave the tv on sometimes. I really hope doggy daycamp helps her to become independent.
Good luck with your puppy too. They are so great to have around

*sigh*

So much for a happy eighteenth birthday...

The very niece I spoke about a few days ago has done the unthinkable... My brother came home this evening and discovered her room completely gutted, and a letter. It turns out the great-aunt that was always trying to adopt her away from my brother has been sneaking stuff behind my brother's back, and has moved my niece out of her dad's place.

Turns out she's been lying to us for months now... Everytime we asked about how school was doing, her search for college, she always acted like she wasn't really doing Anything. Turns out, the great aunt has been doing applications for her and she's been accepted into a couple colleges for Nutritional studies... but the girl's blown off so much of her schooling, no psats, no sats, no real Work... she has to take aptitude tests to show that she can do the work. That's if her Great-Aunt doesn't do the homework FOR her like she has for so many years....

He called her, and her excuse for moving out because she doesnt like doing 'all the chores' in the house... the total amount of ****ing chores she did was nothing - she did laundry for two people ONCE a week, doesn't clean her room, doesn't wash dishes, no vacuuming, nothing. She whined about Sweeping snow off the porch, for Christ's sake. It's the worst case of "Cinderella Syndrome" you could ever imagine..

Needless to say, my brother (who doesn't show emotion) came to the house in absolute tears. We've been talking with him for four hours straight. The thing that worries me so much is that he Owns Guns. He's going through a horrible divorce where, again, the children are being brainwashed to hate him and treat him as nothing but a Wallet. I am beyond scared that he is going to try and kill himself...

I'm so tired of seeing him hurt. By his ex girlfriend, ex wife, and now his ****ing KIDS.... I am so angry right now, but what can I do... She's being so selfish (she's 18, its expected), all she's thinking is that she'll be able to NOT do chores. All she wants to do is live on the phone, screw around with her boyfriend, tout that she's 18 now so she doesn't have to do anything..

I want to just write her the most blistering, anger-filled email to her, disowning her and wishing she would rot in hell with her bitch of an Aunt.
Don't get me wrong, we're happy that she's been getting into college (maybe). We've known that she's wanted to move in with her aunt, and we could have TALKED about her going there after graduating. It wasn't Out of the Question... But she was acting like she had no interest in school, constantly blew me off when I asked about her college search. She lied to my face about EVERYTHING.

I feel so betrayed....

Man Machi, that's rough. I'm really at a lose for wiords as to what to say to try and help ya. I know she's his daughter, but it almost sounds like he's better off. If's shes as big a waste of air as you say, I'd be tore up about her leaving for a bit, but eventually call the aunt and say, "You know what, fine, keep her if that's what she wants. I wash my hands of her she's your responcibility." But then again I'm a rat bastard and have no feelings.

Wouldn't life be great if we got to choose ALL our family members? The only one that can be chosen is the significant other. Just be sure he doesn't get involved with bad women again. It's dishearteniong, but some people refuse to change what they are, even if they hate what they are.

...that really did come out of the blue...

She has her reasons for doing this though. That's the only thing I can think of that is remotely positive. I think all you can really do is just watch your brother and be there to comfort him in this time of need and make sure he doesn't do anything to insane. I hope everything turns around...

I've heard and witnessed that story all too many times. You know an average family, or family member. Something goes wrong and for whatever reason, mom and dad decide they can't or won't work through it for better or for worse. Mom gets overrun and dad becomes a pathetic loser, sitting in the back of a movie theater, numb and silent among his three daughters (and their obnoxious friends who won't stop giggling and talking on the phone).

All I can say is if you're doing all you can to be there for him, then keep it up. Don't let him let himself get sucked dry by everything. Watch his back. Remind him that life goes on. And yeah... I don't know the details of the divorce, but -- I hope if there's anything to learn from this, you both know what that is.

If and when you send a scathing letter to that **** of a niece, be pointed and direct to her but bear in mind the possibility that someday, somehow, she'll realize what an a$$fu(k she's been to everyone, especially her own father.

I see a place where people get on and off the freeway. On and off, off and on all day, all night! Soon there will be a string of gas stations, inexpensive motels, restaurants that serve rapidly prepared food! Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see! My God... It'll be beautiful.
