Wow when you see all the Threads linked together you can see the amount of work that went into creating these. This might be a thread worth stickying cause its a great reference tool for OT toy collectors.

Hello guys, In the begining of the original toyline this humble vehicle came out. In my opinion, if you could add a third vehicle to the duo of the Turtle Party Wagon and the Turtle Blimp, this is the one.
Cheapskate Blueprint (photo courtesy by MAXtDie) Cheapskate Jokebook #5 (photo courtesy by BigApple3AM) Toybox art was decent (after all, this was the first year and we had already have great toybox arts in both the Knucklehead which I have covered in this thread: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=41595 and the Turtle Blimp which have covered here: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sho...ad.php?t=41619 The vehicle itself was pretty good, I would say 100 % toon accurate (something that usually Playmates didn´t accomplish). Unlike the majority of the vehicles that Playmates produced, it appeared on several occasions on the Tv series, since Season 2. Of course, many of us (if not all) may have wanted to have four of them (one for each Turtle), Anyone were able to accomplish that? I still haven´t found a good review on youtube of the Cheapskate (after 25 years!)only this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHyoUGsA40w Here are the Tv commercials for the Cheapskate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNuofZS4St8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5c8WFMO4J8 and finally here is featured in the 1988 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of Tuboloso) and in the 1989 Playmates toy catalog What do you think about this vehicle? Do you got it? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time? Hope you liked and thanks for reading. Last edited by Bill; 06-02-2014 at 06:23 PM. |

Hello Dromers, and welcome back. In the very beginning of the original toyline this first set of accessories came out.
(Photo courtesy of Hotc_Network). (Photo courtesy of Hotc_Network). Gags, Jokes and Crazy Weapons #1 Jokebook #1 (photo courtesy of MAXtDie ) Toycard art was nice, although it would be pretty much the same card used for the other two sets that were yet to come, don’t forget this was the first year and we had already have great toybox arts in both the Knucklehead which I have covered in this thread: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=41595 and the Turtle Blimp which I have covered here: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=41619 Besides, like I said in the 1988 Turtle Tropper thread http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=41678 these set screamed vintage for the very beginning they came out. The accessories included were a sewer cover shield, a pie flyer, a boom box radar and a sewerpipe bazooka. Plus an official turtle ring that squirts water and the first ever National Turtle Quizjokebook (who would have thought that these jokebooks would make it to 36?). Not bad at all I must say, besides in my opinion I think it´s a nice addition to the Tmnt universe and any could have been featured on the original Tv show. If you are looking for something still cheap and vintage, go for them Here´s a good review on youtube of the three sets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmHuy...CDF724&index=2 Anyone knows if there was a Tv commercial for these sets? and finally here is featured in the 1988 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of Tuboloso) What do you think about this set? Do you got it? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time? Anyone thought about the Motu´s weapons pack when they saw these sets? Hope you liked and thanks for reading. Last edited by Bill; 06-02-2014 at 06:26 PM. |

Hello Dromers, in the early going of the Tmnt original toyline this second set of accessories came out.
(Photo courtesy of Hotc_Network). (Photo courtesy of Hotc_Network). Gags, Jokes and Crazy Weapons #2 Jokebook #2 (photo courtesy of MAXtDie ) Toycard art was nice, although, like I said in the 1988 Gags, Jokes and Crazy Weapons #1 thread http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=42598 it would be pretty much the same card used for all the three sets, We can forgive Playmates for that, it was the first year after all. The accessories included this time were a garbage can shield, a pizza flyer, a sewer slingshot ( in the case of this last one, Was Mikey a Dennis the Menace 2.0 or Bart Simpson ancestor? Lol) and a city communicator Plus a retromutagen suirter ( a liquid that stains and the vanishes in seconds) and the second National Turtle Quizjokebook. I still prefer the first set over the second, but it wasn´t that bad either. I think it´s a nice addition to the Tmnt universe and any could have been featured on the original Tv show. I said it again If you are looking for something still cheap and vintage, go for them. Here´s a good review on youtube of the three sets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmHuy...CDF724&index=2 Anyone knows if there was a Tv commercial for these sets? and finally here is featured in the 1988 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of Tuboloso) What do you think about this second set? Do you got it? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time? Anyone used the retromutagen squirter on someone? Hope you liked and thanks for reading. Hello Dear Tmnt Fans, in the Tmnt original toyline first year this third set of accessories came out.
(Photo courtesy of Hotc_Network). (Photo courtesy of Hotc_Network). Gags, Jokes and Crazy Weapons #3 Jokebook #3 (photo courtesy of MAXtDie ) You may have noticed by now that these were the first and only three jokebooks that were printed in yellow paper. That would change briefly to light blue and finally to white. Toycard art was nice, although, like I said in the other two threads, it would be pretty much the same card used for all the three sets. The accessories included this time were a “no Foot shield” (my favourite I must say), a sewer cover flyer, a sewer stopper (also a good one), a gas mask and a sewer searchlight. Plus a Turtle razzer, to “insult” the Foot Clan (yeah, whatever…), mutant turtle eggs and the third National Turtle Quizjokebook. I believe, this is the best set of all, but that´s my humble opinion only. I think it´s a nice addition to the Tmnt universe and again any could have been featured on the original Tv show. If you want to buy only one of these three, then I suggest you to but this one. Here´s a good review on youtube of the three sets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmHuy...CDF724&index=2 Anyone knows if there was a Tv commercial for these sets? and finally here is featured in the 1988 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of Tuboloso) What do you think about this third set? Do you got it? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time? Anyone used the mutant eggs with someone? Hope you liked and thanks for reading. Hello Dear Dromers, It was the year 1988 when the original Tmnt toyline began and
this was the first and only vehicle that the bad guys had back then. Imagine what might had happened it the toyline was called after the first year? Knucklehead blueprint Knucklehead Jokebook #6 (photo courtesy by MAXtDie) Fortunately that didn´t happen. Knucklehead´s toybox art with a Foot Soldier...talking? (an early Alpha One version maybe?) and design were very good, and I believe it foreshadowed the many good things that were yet to come. Although it had a brief Tv appearance only in season 2 episode "Enter the Fly" and then in a larger version in Season 3 "Casey Jones: Outlaw hero" (but this one never made it into the toyline). I still haven´t found a good review on youtube of the Knucklehead (I think it deserves it), only this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjHaVPhoAiE Here is the toy commercial for the Knucklehead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmbFZ351Es8 and finally here is featured in the 1988 (Photo Courtesy of Tubulosos) and 1989 playmates toy catalogs Do you have this Vehicle in your Collection? What do you think about it? Any memories from your childhood when you bought it that you wanna share ? Thanks for reading and thanks for all your awesome comments in the rest of my threads. Hello Dear Dromers, again, thanks a lot for all your comments in my previous threads. It´s great that we can share memories of good ol´ Tmnt.
It was 1988, the beginning of an era, when this vehicle came out. Turtle Blimp Blueprint (photo courtesy by MAXtDie) Turtle Blimp Jokebook #7 (photo courtesy by BigApple3AM) Since Season 1 “Shredder is Splintered”) till almost the end it became the second (after the Turtle Party Wagon of course) most used vehicle for our beloved Turtles. The toybox art was pretty good and I may add an extra point considering it was the toyline´s first year. The turtle Blimp itself was great, although not 100 % Toon accurate but very close in terms of colours and size. Speaking about size, I don´t know about you but I was shocked when I assembled it for the very first time, it was really huge and it could fit all four Turtles. Maybe, old fashioned, a bit slow and with high chances of punctures (both in the Tv series and the toy itself). This one (with the Turtle Party Wagon and the Sewer Playset) is a must have for all Tmnt collectors. But I warn you: take good care of him, avoid sharpening things, after all it´s a big balloon Here´s a good review on youtube of the Turtle Blimp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Elm1PNnjct0 Here is the Tv commercial for the Turtle Blimp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0QGsH00BIY and finally here is featured in the 1988 (Photo Courtesy of Tubuloso), 1989 and 1990 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of VaughnMichael) Hope you liked and thanks for reading. What do you think about this vehicle? Do you got it? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time? Thanks for reading. Hello Guys, When the original toyline began this more than humble accesorie came out
Turtle Trooper Blueprint (photo courtesy of nofuture4u aka emojohnkovacs) Turtle Trooper Jokebook #8 (photo courtesy of MAXtDie) Toybox art was good enough to pass the test and it had the advantage to scream: VINTAGE as you could realize with a quick glance to the toybox that we were in the first year of this amazing Tmnt collection, unlike the rest of the 1988 Vehicles like the Turtle Blimp which I have already talked here: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=41619 or the Knucklehead http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=41595 or even the Cheapskate http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=41659 the Turtle Trooper is the only one that truly reveals that this was indeed the first year of the toyline. The accesorie itself was very good, with no need of any assembly at all, It came just like almost ready to play with. I think Playmates was smart enough to believe that anyone that bought the Turtle Blimp would eventually buy the Turtle Trooper so they can throw this last one from the very Blimp itself. The Turtle Trooper never appeared in the original Tv series, in fact, I cannot recall if any Turtle ever used a parachute in all the cartoon but I don´t think that was an obstacle for this baby to sell out in weeks. Don´t you think? I still haven´t found a good review of the Turtle Trooper in youtube (after 25 years I think it deserved it) Here are the Tv commercials for the Turtle Trooper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNuofZS4St8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5c8WFMO4J8 and finally here is featured in the 1988 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of Tuboloso) and in the 1989 Playmates toy catalog Hope you liked and thanks for reading. What do you think about this vehicle? Do you got it? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time ? Did you throw it from great heights? Thanks for reading. Hello Folks, back in 1989 this Wacky Weapon came out.
Double Barreled Plunger Gun blueprints Double Barreled Plunger Gun jokebook A real proof that Donatello can turn anything into an useful thing....well, useful at least in the 1987 Tmnt Tv series The toybox art was great and the design was not bad at all and although it only appeared in "Pizza by the Shred" for about...3 seconds? I wanted to have it from the very begining. Here´s a good review on youtube of the Double Barreled Plunger Gun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQsv82qGA2U Here is the toy commercial for the Double Barreled Plunger Gun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-NdGvlMZlM and finally here is featured in the 1990 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of VaughnMichael) Here´s featured in the 1991 Playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of Pannoni1) Do you have this Wacky weapon in your Collection? What do you think about it? Any memories from your childhood when you bought it that you wanna share ? Thanks for reading and thanks for all your valuable comments in the rest of my threads.
