Wellllllllll..... following hot in the heals!!
I didn’t want to start another thread..

Here’s the inevitable Playmates Anniversary set.

I’m pretty sure you can guess who these guys are.
They have of course been released a few times before.

The packaging isn’t as exciting as the comic book Turtles:

As much as I know the 4 originals have been reissued before, I hadn’t realized that I did not actually own a box set of them. So it was nice to get this.

Again, 7000 pieces worldwide.

I'm digging both sets. Felt let the original Playmates turtles re-release would have look better with a more colourful box.

I forgot to post the comic cover from the 35th Anniversary set.

It’s a nice piece of art but I don’t really like it as a cover for the reprint : I’d have preferred the original cover tbh.

Playmates Toys should have used the colors and hand drawn art from the 80s for the 1988 original series box set.

This is a pass for me. Not surprised that Playmates re-used their Mirage figures when the 30th Anniversary was happening.

You would think something more extravagant on the horizon with it being 35 anniversary and all
Oh well we can dream

Does this mean we can expect more Classic Collection reissues from the original toyline?

The original line up did include 10 figures.
Unfortunately that doesn’t divide into 4.

There were though, 4 villains released.

I don’t like the Retro Collection TMNT art for the 1988 Original Series box set. Playmates Toys could have, at least, included the Party Wagon photo used for the pins and Vanilla scented air freshener.

So are these the Walmart exclusives or are these for sdcc?

I've got some pretty mixed emotions about these sets.

The comic book styled set has some mediocre looking figures, but that packaging art is next level. I agree with DVD, it may be the best they've done. They should've used that for the '88 set too. Same style on the front and sides celebrating the 35th anniversary, but then changed the back to reflect the OG toys.

Depending on the price, I may scoop these up. Price is going to be a big factor, though. I would be much more hyped if they were re-releasing lines that don't get that much love. If they dropped a four pack of the 2003 figures or the Next Mutation figures with the 35yr packaging art I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

Lastly, sent these images to a friend who's a reliable source and he's pretty sure they're not for SDCC. Just Playmates celebrating the 35th anniversary.

I would like these, but I am not sure that I care enough to hunt them. Keep us posted when they release!

Nickelodeon just announced their exclusives. For turtles we are getting a Rise of the TMNT version of Shredder. Looks pretty cool.

I wonder if they can. 2003 is tied with 4kids and Next Mutation is tied with Saban(I think). When the released the 25 anniversary set of Leonardos, the movie star Leo was missing his belt. I think it's because the lost the mold. So for some of the older toys, they may not have all the molds in good condition to make a complete figure.
