I'm not quite onboard with these designs. and the fact its not taking itself seriously. This is basically another Teen Titans Go. But based on a beloved 80s cartoon.
I thought you were joking. I still wish you were.

Really? I've heard different things about old cartoon, but this one I am certainly not familiar with. Sounds like another bad case of "soccer moms".

Dude, that producer's bringing back the garbage bag hairstyle.
Good for him.

I think I'm gonna sit this one out, along with 'Rise of the TMNT'.

That man-bun is hilarious. It doesn't work on the hobbit behind the show at all.

Papenbrook, it was a reference to what Mikey says to Bebop in 'Out of the Shadows'

The hip hairdo that guy sports, the tail right on top of the head with the rest buzzed off is sometimes referred to as a garbage bag hairdo.

Anyway, it was just a lame joke. It sure wasn't my intention to offend anyone with said hairstyle...

people get upset at anything these days. no one is immune to it. the best you ignore this, the better off you will be.

i was trying to find a photo of this victor guy to show a radio friend of mine who is more up on current trends than I am. and i came across this.

my god, this guy either really can't draw...is proud of his fugly looking art...or is just so happy with his own style, that he can't see how displeasing most find it. what the hell is up with worf's lips? size of planks.

Yeah, it ain't my cup of tea either...
I'm sure kids love it though. And, since they're the target audience, I guess that's all that really matters to the networks.

Too bad for us old geezers.

This show does look terrible... and it would not surprise me if it's a hit with kids. ?

The problem is, that thundercats 2011 was given a shifting time slot, lack of advertisement from CN, and halfway through the first season, received a terrible several-month hiatus that basically killed the series momentum. I believe, that early into the series's run, cartoon Network received an offer from Lego to host their legends of chima show (with an eerily similar premise), and moved to strangle Thundercats in it's cradle. The bad time slots and hiatus killed the show's momentum, hurting toy sales from Bandai (who WB went with for the toyline, instead of goign to, say, MATTEL who has experience with this kind of toyline) and the CN execs had the excuse to pull the plug.

And I can't say for sure, but I know early in the production process of T-cats 2011 there was an idea of reviving Thundercats as a magical rock band. I wonder if, just maybe, some BRILLIANT exec who pitched that million dollar idea (sarcasm) and watched it get turned down in favor of more faithful show, did everything he could to get thundercats 2011 scrapped out of spite (hence the bad time slot, hiatus, etc.) just an amusing thought...

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

the thundercats where a human rock band on modern day earth. and only turned to thundercats, when the lead human found the sword of omens and did the famous call.

it would not surprise me one bit if the above scenario where true.

this sounds like just as bad and disrespectful an idea.

it's an odd thing. all these franchises where created to make money. only time and a well done series turns it into nostalgia when things where done with care and love. and now we are trashing basically the same business idea. go figure

I realized recently that there's probably going to be a trend in style and marketing if a show is <Show's title first>: <Verb>

Teen Titans: Go
Thundercats: Roar

I think Rise of the TMNT escapes this because it puts the verb first. If it were
TMNT: Rise, we should be very afraid, but that's not what happened.

The original, they are interested in watching further. They took interest in the sight of 2011 also so can explore that too.

As for the other posts, what is it with kids networks and all the long breaks?

We should still worry, IMO:

TMNT: we called it "Rise of" because we couldn't use "TMNT: Go!".
