Rose McGowan calls Natalie Portman a fraud

For not "walking the walk" and working with female directors. Because female directors.

The only way Rose McGowan stays relevant is when she opens her mouth, it seems.

Rose McGowan is comprised of approximately 72% cocaine.

Despite her crazy I agree with Rose.

Portman gripped about no female nominees but her Production company has made 1 movie with a female director....HER. She's the head of the company. If she feels that women are underrepresented she should but her money where her mouth is and hire them.

But why doing anything yourself and waste your precious time and money, when you can bully and shame everyone else do whatever you want for you?

I think mire people who played members of a royal family in Star Wars, and are also directors, but have played Ballerinas...

... should be nominated.

Don't forget people who originally "got over" doing various "Lolita"-style roles like Leon/The Professional, stood behind them as "art" and "something they insisted on doing and wouldn't be deterred from, not even by the objections of their parents", and then years later when it's fashionable come out and say "Oh, yeah, no, they totally forced me to do that. I had no idea."

She's a very interesting person, she is.

Very strange trajectory with McGowan. She was doing fine up until she home-wrecked Robert Rodriguez... then it's just been crazytown.

Also, Portman responds:

“I agree with Ms. McGowan that it is inaccurate to call me ‘brave’ for wearing a garment with women’s names on it,” Portman said. “Brave is a term I more strongly associate with actions like those of the women who have been testifying against Harvey Weinstein the last few weeks, under incredible pressure.”

"But what it has to do with female directors" asked every sensible person ever?

It's retarded. There simply exists 5 female directors out there for every 25 male directors. So by that ratio, those 5 female director should get 50% of the directing gigs? Just because they're female?

How is that not sexist?

Sexism? Is that what we are talking about now? Because I came here to post that McGowan does her best work either without clothes, or when you can see through them.......

-ahem-

Just make a new award "Best Female Director", "Best Black Actor"!

Though for some reason I don't see Bolywood or Asians creating an award for "Best White Actor" or "Best White Director".

The argument is for more opportunities for women to enter the profession, not hand 50% of the jobs to 5 women only. No one would make that demand. That's like saying 50% of NFL football teams should have black quarterbacks, so let's pick 5 black quarter backs and make them play for half the teams.

It's not 1890. And not even 1920.
There are plenty of opportunities to women to go into profession of a movie director. It's just that women apparently are not going into this profession. And no, giving Oscars for just having vagina, won't make more women go into profession. The same thing about various hi-tech professions.

Also saying that "there is a pressure on women to not to go into professions" doesn't explain anything. A lot of people face pressure going into various fields and somehow they manage to get into them and make names for themselves.

I am not denying that there is a some amount of sexism at play, but saying that awards will somehow fix it, is complete misunderstanding of a problem.

Personality-wise, most women would rather be in front of a camera than behind it. Yes, that's a broad general statement, but it's true nonetheless. More women are suited for acting than directing. It is what it is, no need try and force the square peg in the round hole. Let women who want to direct come about it organically. if they're good, they'll get more work. But most women simply aren't inclined to pursue this.
