I just finished my first paid Commission artwork, and the commissioner was so pleased they gave a little extra in payment.

What made me happy today, seeing birds on our balcony eating from the bird feeder. A bird even got in our apt early this AM (I think the cat caught it). But I caught the bird and set it free!

Getting my ticket for Friday. I will be seeing it, but won't have to pay a dime! Thanks, Nick-toon DVD's!

Well, I'm officially an aunt. It's a boy, and a future member of this fandom if I have any say in it.

6/7 - Found the "Shell Shock" Step into Reading book for the TMNT film in Walmart. Despite the cover being 'photos' of them, inside it's actually a pretty cute illustrated version, so I had to have it. Art style flatters them well, similar to some great fan art I've seen of them, I could see more being done with them in 2D.

The kid mentioned above now also has a small collection of Half Shell Heroes figures waiting until he's age 3+. Will be a while, but I couldn't wait on it, figured with my luck they'll have ended that line by then; and who knows what the series will be up to at that time, if still going or if TMNT has hit a lull. Besides, I wanted to get one of the sets with the dinos.

Also happy maker - feeling like I have a small vacation. Had requested the day off work yesterday due to plans to see the movie late Sunday and I didn't want them having any ideas of putting me on too early Monday so screw it... whole day off. But turns out, for what ever reason I have only two days of work this week. Which kinda sucks where the pay is concerned, but with family stuff going on, it coincidentally works out well that I'm off until Friday. Nice to have a little break. It's odd though, I also had off the day my dad passed away, which was a Sunday and rare to have it off, but grateful I was there at home.

My TMNT vol. 14 and some other book I ordered on Amazon came in and I have the day off today so its a day of reading and working on my fics. Also baked some cookies today. Yum! Freshly baked cookies and comics- what could be better?

Congrats on the nephew! I should be expecting to be an aunt in a few years...after my brother gets married in February. And after he and his wife really settle down.

I'll probably actually smile and stop being a bitch after I take my meds and get stoned tbh so I'm pre-emptively submitting those as activities that made me happy today

Hot bubble baths, and the fact that there is a watermelon in the fridge. A neighbor brought it over yesterday. It's sweet, juicy, and seedless, so no digging seeds out. Also, the last of my ordered books arrived today. Now if my OTHER package would just hurry up and get here....

Saw that Build-A-Bear is going to have Ghostbusters stuff (and up for preorder online). Including the jumpsuit and Proton Pack of course. How cute would that be on the Turtles from there, à la the crossover comic issues a while ago.

I've made friends on tumblr and deviantART...I'm not judging. Even met one if them in person twice. I visited her in Minnesota, and then she came down here. Though, because she was nervous to fly on a plane alone for the first time, I went up to pick her up. And then we got stuck unable to fly to Texas because all the flights were full and it was raining really hard.

There's no problem with online friendships. They've made one of my best ones.

Same here. One of my best online friends is a fellow writer and Marvel fan from Pennsylvania. We are close to the same age, and share the same first AND middle name, oddly enough. We've been friends for years in spite of never having met in person, and I got autographed copies of her first two published books. We've even cowritten a few fics together. You might say we are each other's biggest fans!

I shared a hotel for NYCC with a member here from another country 11 years my senior a while back. On a later trip I linked up with people from 4chan. Had some long distance (out of state) relationships from social networking that I traveled for, too. Guess I'm lucky those worked out. Some (or most? Most.) of the best people in my life were connected with through the internet.

That's true... most of my friends are people I've met online and more than half, I only talk to online... this one just seems different somehow. Lol

I can't explain really. But it's fun.

It really is.

I had another day at the zoo. And despite the terrible heat, the dumb decision to wear long jeans, and a painful "day one", it was a good time. The tortoises were out, and I got to see all four of the coyote puppies they had. And learned they were trying to get a baby orangutang.

Most of all, I learned one very important thing.
I will not be taking my children to the zoo in the summer. Especially at midday when it's naptime! In the fall after naptime! Extreme heat and low energy, an overly cranky child makes.
