There had to be another way... I mean hate the movies all you want but the Smurfs look like they stepped out of the cartoon. They didn't just paint a bunch of people blue and use camera work to make then look tiny.

This looks like a human got his DNA spliced with an animal or some rare breed of blue hedgehog got in contact with some mutagen.

Now Sonic can join the TMNT in the MeToo movement. Great. Hollywood is sick. Worst of all, they're ****ing Sonic right in front of everyone and some people would still actually defend it.

Your argument is flawed and invalid.

I already mentioned why Pokémon are different. They’re not anthropomorphic characters. Most are very much just animals with different physical attributes. Of course they’re easier to make live action.

I know some are more human-like like the clown one but that’s just it...he’s not distinctly based on an animal. Same difference with the Smurfs. They’re not animals. The transition is straight forward.

Can you imagine if the Chipmunks were kept cartoon accurate? That would have be genuinely weird. The traditional designs are basically people with chipmunk faces. Even the Nick designs.

You have to allow for interpretation and context of characters.

I actually just thought of something. A lot of the Archie comic designs are similar to the teaser. What’s been shown anyway.

Depending what Sonic’s face looks like this would seem to fit right in. At least when it comes to the human-like proportions.
