One-and-dones/compressed storytelling could also do that thing of filling in and showing characters as well as being a nice refreshing change of pace.

September 2017
TMNT #74 12,936 TMNTU #14 8,937 From what I noticed IDW had 21 total books listed on the charts for September. TMNT was 3rd and 6th for est units shipped. http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomi...7/2017-09.html |

Sales do seem to be declining each month but as long as TMNT is one of IDW's best selling properties it doesn't matter.
Next year when IDW launches their new Sonic the hedgehog comic I expect that to be their best selling comic at least for a little while. |

I don't know. Ducktales #1 launched with the arrival of a new show and is only number four. Star Wars Adventures is number one and two. TMNT is consistently among the top for IDW. Sonic will have tough competition.

Never underestimate the Sonic fandom. The Archie Sonic comic somehow ran for three decades since the 90's because of fans.

Looking back TMNTU #1 did almost as many copies as the first issue of the ongoing. Number fifty was a good bump for TMNT. I wonder what will happen with #100?

So issue 95-99 will probably sell about 23-24k and 100 will shoot up to 30k

October 2017. According to
http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomi...7/2017-10.html Items marked with asterisks[*] had their reported orders reduced by 10% due to returnability. Whatever that’s about? TMNT #75 * 14,855 TMNTU #15 8,656 |

Wonder how much longer into next year Universe will go on for with continually shrinking sales. They really need to drop the $5 price point and just go with 20 page issues.

Agree this is really killing the book. The back story is pointless imo.

So, for those who understand the finer points of sales, is it looking good or bad for the chances of Universe sticking around as a companion title at least until #100 of the main ongoing?

I think Bobby said Universe issues are already planned through all of 2018, so we'll get at least another full year of 12 issues out of it. By 2019 though is probably when it'll end unless sales turn around.

Thanks. If it does have to end prematurely, I hope it's capped off with a nice round number. At least make it past #24, and hopefully up to #30. It'll be a shame if we have to see the title go some day, though. There's still plenty of untapped potential and stories to be told.

This is why I buy 3 copies minimum of every issue of TMNT IDW publishes, I want this book to live long and do well. Sure I'm not your typical customer but I also don't buy any other comic on a monthly basis. To each their own though.

Now I'm thinking about selling off the TPB's to switch to the huge hardback collections. |

i too help support the IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics by buying every single Issue to come out as well as in digital. (and any variant cover that isn't ridiculously overpriced) then i buy the subsequent releases in both Trade Paperback as well as Hardcover collections. [Mod Edit: Enough personal jabs at ChosenOne. You've been harassing him in threads all over the place, knock it off and move on. - Machias]

Thank you, I even think I'm a little overboard on it. I am nuts about variant covers but I think for readability I may go with those big hardcovers they have. I don't think Comixology lets you sort the micro series in with the numbered issues as well as universe and cross overs etc.? I have no experience with digital comic services. Any how I love the work the people who put all their time into making this series happen and I am glad to pay for it each month and I hope it continues for as long as possible. If we come to a point though where the story is rebooted then I am probably out the door ha ha. I don't care if they have to renumber it to get the general audience back but please don't have us go through another re-telling of the first time the Turtles encountered Shredder, Stock man, Leather-head etc. |

the Hardcovers really are nice and the larger size lets you enjoy the art more. the only downside the them is that they do not contain all of the variant covers like the trade paperbacks do. so i collect the TPB as well. no, unfortunately comixology does not follow the chronological reading order of ongoing/mini-series/etc… what i do is keep a word document of the reading order handy, and manually open and read each issue in sequence. i used to like to read the physical comic first and then read it a second time in digital. but the ‘guided view’ on comixology has spoiled me. oh! i really hope they never renumber the series! the way this series is very held to continuity, all renumbering it would do is confuse and drive away new readers. imagine telling someone how we see Hamato Yoshi’s origin with the foot clan in issue #5, they go and up the renumbered comic. they'd be completely lost. best thing they can do to attract new readers is stunts like the Batman cross-over. maybe even the Injustice cameo?
