Live Action Beauty and the Beast film
Disney's going thru with a LA Beauty and the Beast film. Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been cast as Belle. Should be interesting to see who's cast as Gaston, Beast, ect.

Nope, no thanks. Not for me. Also I find Emma Watson over rated.

I'm personally looking forward to this! Beauty and the Beast is my second favorite Disney film (the first being The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and I can't wait to see how they'll adapt it into live action. All of the live action films so far have been adaptions of the classics (Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent, with Cinderella coming in march and the Alice sequel coming next year) so this'll be the first one based on a film from the Disney Renaissance. I especially can't wait to see how the Beast and the enchanted objects will look, and how the music numbers will be handled!

With this and Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book likely to become major blockbusters, it probably won't be long after til a live-action The Lion King is announced. I wonder what director would have the balls to take that on...

a live action Lion King? They would have to be Anthropomorphized Lions, but that would be all CGI anyways.

I wonder if the Beast will be fully CGI with motion capture, Which I can see happening with this live action adaption.
As long as the Beast looks like a feline. Something like this. |

I gotta admit, I'm very curious to see how this turns out. As much as I love Emma Watson, I'm really anxious to see who plays Lumiere, Cogsworth and Chip.

Stanley Tucci has been cast as an eeeeeeeevil Grand Piano named... Cadenza (Disney is trying to lure in Bronies apparantly). Now they're saying he's a new character. Which is kinda true. Unless it turns out he's related to the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil Pipe Organ from Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas.

Alan Menken, the original film's composer was at Lincoln Center in New York today. He said that he and Tim Rice have written three new songs for the film. One of them will be called "Forever More", which is sung by the Beast when he realizes what love is. Another song is called "Days In The Sun" - a lullaby sung by the objects as they are going to sleep remembering their lives before the spell. In this article, there is a video and Menken discusses the project from around 53:11 to 54:29.

The main reason I am interested in this movie is because of Emma Watson. Though I have to say the cast in this one is much more recognizable then the past live action Disney movies.

Considering how much the Disney version borrowed from the 1946 La Belle et la BĂȘte by Jean Cocteau, it would have been pretty snazzy if they used the original Beast designs Cocteau had intended for the Beast to look like.
But, I'd imagine they are gonna live-action up the animated design, which is a pretty good design. |
