Aw jeez, that sucks. I may not be able to see art, but I do appreciate it quite a lot when it's described to me. I've always loved Swamp Thing, and the illustrations he's done for King's books. Yeah, rest in peace, Bernie.

i've been fearful of this moment for some time now, Bernie has been having a multitude of health problems for quite a few years now. so sad!

i wish the best for his wife and loved ones.

Met him a couple times at ECCC like 15 years ago when it was still a small and intimate comic con. Super nice guy. His crocodile Alien in Batman vs. Aliens was bad-ass.

Peter Laird chimed in:

you're so fortunate to have met him!

i never got the chance to meet Bernie, but my brother was lucky to have met him years ago at a convention. said he was the nicest and coolest of guys.

i've loved his art ever since i was a kid and didn't even realize who exactly was the person was drawing all this awesome creepy art.

Bernie's stark use of Black & White and subtle thin hatching lines to create mid-tones to softly blend them...

no one will ever really replicate his style.

his art was like a beautiful combining of Graham Ingels and Gustave Doré.
