I liked Jason Momoa in the red road. Never seen any of his other films. He could be genie or jafar. Probably the rock will be in it because he is in everything. Rock did sing in moana so if it has singing he's got experience.

Jesus. Iko Uwais would be terrible for Aladdin.

Is Will Smith still playing the Genie in this?

I have no idea who that is, but he looks good enough. They just need to give him a haircut to fit Aladdin's hair style.

If Disney are searching for cultural authenticity in Aladdin, they are on fool's errand. The stories in A Thousand and One Nights were cribbed from all over the place - like someone said earlier, Aladdin is probably supposed to be Chinese.

On top of that, their version is more Broadway than anything, and it's set in a culturally weird, fictitious location, based on a story that probably doesn't reflect any kind of geographical reality in the first place.

I really hope he gets it, he was great in Victorious. I don't know how well he can sing (hopefully better than Emma Watson as Belle ) but otherwise I think he's perfect for Aladdin.

Now they just need to make a live action Hercules with Chris Evans in the leading role and I'll be happy as can be

They've cast Aladdin and Jasmine.

@DisneyD23: Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, and Will Smith lead the live-action cast of Aladdin #D23Expo

I'm thrilled that Naomi will be playing Jasmine. Smith is a great choice for the Genie. Plus, here's everything we need to know about Mena Massoud. Robin Williams actually inspired him to become an actor.

Jafar might be played by Marwan Kenzari

Also there will be a new character named Mara handmaiden and friend to Jasmine played by Nasim Pedrad. I guess she is taking the place of Jasmine's Pet Tiger Raja ?

I hope they don't replace Raja, who was also in the animated movie, They should have no problem creating a CGI Tiger.

Disney will be releasing the film on May 24, 2019. Star Wars: Episode IX was previously scheduled for release on Memorial Weekend 2019, but that will now be released in December 2019.

Naomi Scott did an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about reinventing Jasmine for this film.

During an interview, Alan Menken talked about writing a new song for Jasmine.

Quote:
Next up, you have Aladdin with more new songs.

Those are in the can now and written already. I’ve written two new songs. We’ve re-written a lot of the older material to fit a live-action film as opposed to a stage or animated film and fit having Will Smith as the genie rather than Robin Williams. One of our agendas with Aladdin has been to give a big moment to Princess Jasmine. A moment where it’s a woman’s empowerment number. The title is called Speechless and I’ll leave it at that. I’m so looking forward to people hearing that.

Despite the film having 400 performers who are either Indian, Middle Eastern, African, Mediterranean or Asian, the movie is being criticized for 100 white actors help fill the many background roles, stunt positions, dancers and “camel handlers” needed. Disney has released a statement following this report:

Quote:
“Great care was taken to put together one of the largest most diverse casts ever seen on screen,” responded a Disney spokesperson. “Diversity of our cast and background performers was a requirement and only in a handful of instances when it was a matter of specialty skills, safety and control (special effects rigs, stunt performers and handling of animals) were crew made up to blend in.”

Everyone has to be extra careful to not make the FAKE news round blogs, which will happen anyway, imagine if today's blogs existed when the animated movie came out.

I'm thinking for this very reason this movie will be sanitized as hell and won't take any chances, it'll likely be the worse of the live action adaptations which is sad since it was the one I was most excited about. I was hoping we'd get the actors wear their original outfits at least for one scene in the movie but I don't see it happening at all, especially Jazmine.

If this is true, I can't...what next? Having white people anywhere will be considered offensive?
This is start to smell like racism against white people.
