Playmates Cold-Cast statue color Error?

So, I just noticed something I had never even saw before tonight. All of the Playmates cold-cast statues have black belts and wrist bands. What gives? Can't be a mistake because it is on all 4. Anyone know why?

Interesting question.

I do remember seeing that a prototype of a NECA Leo also had black wristbands and belt, but they might have just been following the color scheme of these.

Yeah but, that was just a prototype. The finished Neca releases have brown belts and wristbands, the correct color. However all 4 of the Playmates statues sport the black wrist bands and belts. The turtles never had that color belt or wristbands, not even in th earliest of art that Eastman and Laird colored.

I guess Playmates' reasoning is that the belt and the wrist bands are the same material, which is different from the pads.

Perhaps the belt implies the Turtles are black belts and the wristbands are electrical tape?

I always thought black looked awesome on the Turtles. I must admit, I never caught this detail before - go figure! I kind of like it better than all brown. I would imagine the black belt at least was to signify the martial abilities like has been stated.

Not sure what that has to do with this topic. These statues are based specifically on the look from the first issue, in which they wore brown belts and wristbands. ( I know the issue is in black and white, bah blah. You know what I mean.) Not some other series comic book.
