Try actually reading the thread, you'll find the answer.

I'm not saying they aren't fakes out there but my official square clamshell versions I ordered when they first came out have different skin tones between the feet and legs somewhat since they are different plastics, and I have seen some NECA figures in TRu and such that will look drastically different color wise from the others I think they are just different runs that had some defects.

About the smell and the hard plastic:

1. How long does the smell last, and can you get rid of the smell?

2. How can you make the front shell soft? is there a way to make the rubber soft, like the real NECA figures?

To be honest, i'm not a die hard collector so would be pretty happy with these even if they are bootlegs. I'm just a little uncertain about them actually showing up if i ordered em.

I'd imagine the shell would dissipate after a while.

You can't make the shell soft if it's cast in the harder plastic. Only way you could do that is to mould it and recast it in a more flexible plastic.

The bootlegs are great figures. I can't say that all sellers are legit but I've bought from two different sellers and the figs were great. one seller even sent me a pristine Chinese paper currency bill, sealed in a plastic case. I thought that was pretty cool!

I actually like the harder front shell as it has better shading than the soft shell IMHO. The bootlegs do have a more blue back shell but I paint those brown anyways. I've compared and looked over both and there's only minimal differences.

The authentic ones will be harder to come by and there should be a lot on ebay come Christmas time as people will need the extra cash.

Thanks for the awesome reviews of the authentic NECAs and bootleg figures side by side. I have an authentic Don from 2008, but never got around to finishing the set so I've been considering the ones on eBay. For bootlegs, they did a pretty amazing job. Thanks again for the pictures!

I have a bootleg set of all 4 turtles and I have to say that I have never regretted purchasing them. I have seen varying degrees of quality on the paint apps but nothing too horrible. Luckily, I was able to purchase my set from a local comic shop so I was able to be as nitpick as I wanted with the paint apps until I found the ones I was satisfied with haha.

I do want to get another set but this time with the multi colored masks (blue for Leo, Purple for Donnie and orange for Mikey).

I say that if you can get your hands on these figures (bootleg or official) just go for it. They are great figures.

I have to echo that last post (and just because I'm here - originally Scotland )
I have the basic set (in tubes) and the coloured bandana set (also in tubes).
I also have the BW box set (in a box).

Comparing the so-called bootleg coloured sets to the official B/W figures; they feel the same, look the same (except one set is in colour, and the other isn't !! ).

I am 100% convinced that these are being produced from the original NECA moods. If I am wrong, someone has gone to great expense to produce state of the art copies of those moods, as the figures are superb.

Please note, I am not the guy behind these figures

I have the same sets but the coloured bandanas. And hell, I believe they where even made on the very same factory as the official ones, only with left-over plastics and during after hours by the workers in there.

So I had a few eBay Bucks and figured what the heck, I'll pull the trigger on a couple of these. Can't beat free right? I had said over in the Official Bootleg Thread that I would share my experience, so I'll do it here as opposed to weighing that thread down more.

I picked up Raph for $12 from a seller called 1hk9084 and Mikey for $10.50 from a seller called xiaojuan973. The weird thing is, it appears both sellers have been shut down and had their items completely removed from eBay. When I go to my Purchase History both items show the following message: "We had to remove this listing from the site and you're not required to complete the transaction. If you've already sent payment, the sale should process as normal and you don't have anything to worry about. If you have any questions about delivery, please check tracking or contact your seller. If you run into any trouble along the way eBay is here to help. Please visit the Resolution Center to help resolve any problems you may encounter." I'm starting to form my own conspiracy theories as to why that is.

Anyway, on to the goods:

Shipping:

Despite coming from two different sellers in two different cities 886 miles apart in China, both packages were identical. The boxes were identical, the way they were packaged was identical, and both boxes contained an identical little Customer Service type "How are we doing?" leaflet. Pictures below.

Next I'll talk about the tubes they were packaged in.
