Americans strongly dislike PC culture

Based on a nationally representative poll with 8,000 respondents, 30 one-hour interviews, and six focus groups conducted from December 2017 to September 2018.

why is this news?

I hate it because it's caused me to question WHY things are being done. Things I would have thought of as 'cool' before, are now met with 'ugh.' Women action heroes being one.

Everything is done for the wrong reasons these days. and it NEVER works out well for those doing it.

Yeah, I question their claim that "a full 80 percent" think it's a problem.

So tired about all the PC whining. And I mean a lot of that including the childish anti-PC nonsense. Ultimately, political correctness should simply be about having some flipping manners and consideration for others. Not "Wah wah, I can't call someone the N-word because PC!" when you have zero reason or need to even include that word in your vocabulary. Making it really just a severe immaturity with the whole "can't tell me what to do" stupidness. Don't want to have any consideration for your fellow humans and citizens... then go live in the woods and leave everyone else alone.

If you look at what Americans have to say on issues such as immigration, the extent of white privilege, and the prevalence of sexual harassment, the authors argue, seven distinct clusters emerge: progressive activists, traditional liberals, passive liberals, the politically disengaged, moderates, traditional conservatives, and devoted conservatives.
Do wish they'd have offered some explanation for each of their categories.

Do any guys ever consider that maybe it's not done for them? Women are allowed to want this... (I just wish more women were behind writing it.)

I agree with the sentiment...

But that still sounds like a relatively small sample size.

Nobody likes Political correctness, not even politically correct people themselves because its an ideology based on avoiding self responsibility for ones own feelings. Thus, it encourages people to be miserable and self loathing.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

This is rather surprising, tbh. But I guess they didn't just interview University students and hipsters.

As expected.
Sane people can see that "PC culture" ended up not exactly as was originally intended.

Show me ONE "sane" person on this forum. I'll wait. Everyone is a little nuts in one way or another. Some are just a bit more obvious.

I think we've reached the point of more people complaining about PC culture than actual PC culture complaining about things. Ridiculous, will both sides back down a bit or will they continue to rehash the same crap for the next few years?

I think the pendulum still has a long way to swing before that can be the case.

Nah, personally I agree and think that the pendulum is well into that territory and has been for quite a while. The anti-PC whining gets just as old.

Maybe some are bothered by other people whining about what they might consider petty things, but there isn't much that's more annoying than to listen to people whine about other people's grievances.

Who cares. It's all a garbage agenda anyway. As long as you are a contributing member of society and not harming anyone, this shouldn't be a topic.

thats a large ass study 8,000 people is a large study and an expensive one. Given the proportion of the population they do need a larger sample size to reduce the extrapolation.

The only thing I do not agree with the study is how much they extrapolate the data.

Then it goes on for ad infinitum, so humans can maybe just shut up in general.

But yeah, those people don't tend to make/start posts online about it, so it's stretching a bit to label it as whining.

That is debatable. Sanity is relative. And when the vast majority keep doing the same things each and every day, but expect their situation to change, it's questionable if they are sane at all. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to get different results." Life ITSELF is an exercise in insanity, based on such a definition. So- yeah..... Reality is kind of a joke we play on ourselves.
