Blue Collar Work vs White Collar Work
Which one do you prefer and why? I personally like Blue Collar work miles better, despite the fact that when I was in school, I was that kid who always studied and hated sports. It was in college, where I discovered that sitting at a desk wasn't quite for me, so I tried various jobs in manual labour, and I loved every second of it! Something about working your body to exhaustion, then coming home and having dinner is the best feeling ever for me. Also enjoy having the free workout, and knowing you accomplished something with your own hands is really testosterone inducing!

Which is BETTER?
Obviously, neither; both are needed. Which do I prefer? The one with air conditioning and a comfy leather swivel chair.

The one that's not going to break your back by the time you're in your 40s. But that's just me.

I’ve done both in my time. I prefer the salaried life to the hourly life. White collar for me. Stable hours and stable paycheck.

No-collar work is my favorite.

Blue collar for me. I mean, if we're being honest, we all want to be our own boss and work that dream job from home or whatever, but there is something innately gratifying about working a job that actually contributes something tangible and material to society on some way, whether it's building something, doing repair or other physical work, or providing a service like food or retail or deliveries or whatever.

I can see the pros and cons of both so it’s a difficult choice.
On a side note, I learned something new today. The terms “pink-collar” and “pink ghetto.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink-collar_worker |

White collar, I guess. I mean, better salaries, more stability and more stable schedules in general.

I dunno where people get the idea that white collar jobs are neccessarily more stable. My job is as stable as I make it. Sure, there is often a high turn-over in my ttpe of work, but that is normally due more to individuals not being suited to it, wanting something more lucrative, only working as a means of making money for school on the path of a different career, or not having the patience to stick around for more than a few weeks or months due to not understanding what the job actually entails. My schedule is pretty stable, but still flexible enough to allow for changes on a weekly basis if needed. Days off are almost always the same, but I can make changes if something comes up and work a different day or shift. I like it!

Never heard of the term "pink collar", but I think it does exist for a reason. Gonna start using it myself.

Never really bothered checking with what the terms really are I just remebr one of them are office job type(?), so I had to google it since we don't use blue/white collar terms over here.
What I'd prefer is being a artist full-time, but that isn't paying the bills at the moment. |

I'm guessing white collar is office job or something like a doctor, while blue collar is something like miner, construction worker, barman, etc? |

Think of it this way: blue collar typically starts at minimum wage, whereas white collar typically starts with ~4 years' worth of college debt!

I think the terms have blurred a bit with the increase of technology.
White Collar used to mean management, and blue collar those who report to management. If you get your hands dirty, do the grunt work, then you have a blue collar job. It's relative.

I've done both. When you work at the airport in 90+ degree heat in the summer and 20 degree bitter coldness in the winter...you'll be begging for an indoor job sitting at a computer for 8 hours a day.
So I choose white collar now. |

“Blue-collar crime is a term used to describe crimes that are committed primarily by people who are from a lower social class. This is in contrast to white-collar crime, which refers to crime that is usually committed by people from a higher social class.” Burglary might be considered blue collar an embezzlement white collar. https://study.com/academy/lesson/blu...-examples.html |

Well, that would basically mean anything in food service (waitressing, food counter service, etc) or ccustomer service jobs, possibly concierge work, and the like. So, yeah, those are jobs usually held by women. (Probably because they are not "manly enough" for men to want them.)
