It may be dated March 31st of last year... but it was posted awfully close to April Fools Day. Minutes prior for all we know.

Yeah, I just reread it. I didn't see that caption on the bottom until now. I can't tell if this was a good joke or not, but all the reasons why I hate April Fools.

Why not just give them all red masks? It'd make the Mirage fans super happy!!!

Ya know this is the kind of stuff we could be discussing on the podcast, if we ever got around to restarting it.

Green Krang would pay some homage to 1950's and 60's science fiction, when a lot of extraterrestrial characters were green (usually humanoid, but still green).

You know that's not why they continue with the multi coloured. Don't be an instigator.

It began because mommy and daddy couldn't be relied upon to buy 4 of the same colored bandanna Turtle action figure for Little Timmy. What's the excuse again now? People can't tell them apart? lol!!

The reasons for the turtles getting multi coloured masks are the same now as they were back then.
Now as someone who has read practically all Mirage related TMNT stories it's hardly ever been a problem telling them apart. Even if their weapons aren't visible the characters all have distinct 'voices' that you can easily tell them apart. In the unlikely event wider media ever did go the all red bandana route I'd bet it wouldn't be as big of a problem for people to tell them apart as they might think especially if they all have different shaped faces and builds. But it's always going to be a bug bare for some people that you need a way tell them apart and the individually coloured masks remains the simplest and best way to do that. And yes, mommy and daddy still don't want to to buy their kids four Raphaels. It has nothing to do with catering to the LGBT+ community and pushing progressive politics.
