Tales of the TMNT #71 (TMNT Vol.1 #8 remake without Cerebus)
CLICK ON THE COVER TO DOWNLOAD THE ISSUE! (you can rename "cbz" to "zip" and extract the pages from archive.) Having lost rights to include Cerebus in their publications, for a long time Mirage Studios were unable to reprint TMNT v1 #08, which actually was of much importance to the TMNT chronology. The issue included the first appearances of such characters as Renet and Savanti Romero. In 2006, the Spanish publishing company Norma Editorial acquired the license to reprint the original Eastman and Laird TMNT comics and the problem with the issue was resolved. The story was rewritten and redrawn by Mirage in-house staffers Stephen Murphy and Jim Lawson. Despite the fact that the comic was intended to replace the issue with Cerebus, Murphy took the liberty of creating a completely different story which-- while under the intention and edict of replacing the original TMNT #8-- still managed to preserve the original story in a roundabout way. This version takes it a step further and weaves it into the timeline wholesale, which seems particularly fitting given that the original edict of replacing TMNT #8 was ultimately determined by Peter Laird/Mirage Publishing to be (at the 11th hour) unnecessary and subsequently jettisoned. Unfortunately, the rewritten, redrawn comic has never been published in the US. In 2009, when the TMNT Collected Book I with the first 11 issues of the Volume 1 were republished, what was within its pages was, in fact, the reprinted original story with Cerebus (thanks to Dave Sim!). So the remake remained confined to a kind of "mystery Spanish story." It's time to change that! --Now the English version is available as Tales of the TMNT v2 #71. The cover and frontispiece were done by me and friends of mine. It's a non-commercial project, of course, which means that you only pay for the printing and postal expenses (from Russia with love). There are only 50 copies were printed! If you want a copy, send an e-mail to demon-alukard@hotmail.com or send me PM to discuss the details. Last edited by Demon-Alukard; 12-15-2011 at 08:13 AM. |

Cybercubed (& I'm sure the rest of us) wants to know if this comic you're shipping is also in Spanish.

So the #8 itself is the same #8 Murphy/Lawson did for the Spanish book, this only has a new cover and frontpiece?

It is the same as the Spanish #8 issue but dialogue's translated into English and a frontispiece added for that 'Tales of TMNT' touch.
That's one of Schroodinger's Cats on the cover. And I've reserved mine for "store credit", woot! |

I've been looking for the remake for a while now, can't wait to read it.
