I dunno, it feels like something plot related with the whole "murder board" part, so doubting its a flashback.

I'd be inclined to think it's just the simple, barely above stick man figures making them look more like 10 than teen, but as far as being presumably for key frames for animation...Leo fumbling his greeting looks more like a younger kid doing it, not someone high school age.

And then he has zero interest in the school and literately does nothing until reminding Mikey that they're apparently playing April. Why...

Who do they think they're impressing with that Good Will Hunting line..? Weird thing to harp on, I know, but everything surrounding this movie including most of this storyboard implies a very strict audience of kids. What kid is going to know of or care about a 1997 drama about finding a place in the world? Is it a bone for the adults who are probably conked out already after Leo's exchange with April? If that's the case, then what's the joke? Donnie calls himself Matt Damon?

Big Bang Theory and its reference humor really did f*ck up comedy, apparently.

Yup, it’s simply a “ha, I understand that reference” for the demographic they estimate will bring their kids.

And don’t miss the blatant plot exposition between the turtles which comes across just awful.

There's a part at the end of this, Where there's a random picture of Scooby Doo on the board, And then they have an alternate version show a picture of the Swedish Chef, I would guess they'll stick a different image onto that actual scene.

Sadly I think this is unrealistic.

This isn't like Into The Spider-Verse were it's an extra arm of the Spider-Man franchise. The reason they are doing an animated movie is because after Out Of The Shadows tanked so hard Paramount doesn't think they have any other option. For a franchise that has five live action movies to go the animated rout there's no way that this isn't perceived by the wider public as a step backwards. To me that's why they added they haven't ruled out another live action/cgi hybrid movie. It's largely a face saving comment but I seriously doubt there is any firm plans. They way they said it was like they were sheepishly floating the slim possibility of a new live movie at some vague point in the future. If they had any firm plans they's say "we're planning a new live action movie currently scheduled for 20XX".

I doubt Paramount will release a new live action TMNT movie unless there is significant evidence there is an audience for it. I doubt they are aware of the success of The Last Ronin or the NECA figures or even Batman v TMNT and even if they were I doubt that would sway their execs for a more 'adult' approach. The only way I can see a new live TMNT movie being made anytime in the next few years is if Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts makes a lot of money. That franchise coming back after the last one lost money might signal to them movies of that type (which is how they see TMNT) were on the rise again.

Again, “best case scenario”. Realistic but not something I’d hold my breath over.

The only thing certainly headed our way is probably a home video adaption of The Last Ronin. I’m worried it’ll have a crap budget though.

I love how anytime anyone voices well-thought out and specific criticizim on a new thing, it's always "overreacting." As if the only acceptable opinion is to like everything implicitly.

We all have preferences for what we would want in a TMNT movie. We all had worries on what this movie was going to turn out to be. These storyboards seem to confirm that the general tone and asethetic of this movie are going to be exactly what many of us didn't want.

And enough of this "x-shaming" to deflect criticism. When a character is "redesigned" so much that it doesn't even resemble the character, it's a stupid design. And in this case, it's clearly being done for brownie points.

Batman has been redesigned over the years too, but they never stray so far from the design that we end up with Frogwoman.

Goddammit. I actually liked the new designs for the turtles, but this, if it's real, gross. Extremely disappointing.

I don't understand the logic in some of these filmmakers heads. They're tying to be progressive in making April a larger black woman. But at the same time using the same overused tropes in every "teenager" movie. Donnie is the nerd, Mikey is into drama, and Raph is a jock. Don't they understand the hypocrisy?

My gut feeling is that those storyboards reflect a design that is inspired by the person they cast (or planned to cast) for the voice over.
