Y'know you're not wrong. It's a weirdly specific trend that I keep seeing. I mean, Modern Hollywood seems to have a problem with white people in general, but redheads specifically always seem to get erased no matter what. But Amy Adams and Jessica Chastain are huge. Linsdsay Lohan was one of the most popular stars of her era. Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Sophie Turner, Isla Fisher.
I'm not buying the redhead myth, personally.

Though Kumail Nanjiani, from Eternals, did recently reveal that Hollywood only wants white villains, in his experience. He can't get cast as a villain, because if you make minorities bad, people call it racist.

They tried to with the 2014 movie, But they ended up reshooting it after word got out that Shredder was a white dude name Colonel Schrader.

Does anyone thing this leak gave any insight to whether or not the turtles are humans mutated into turtles? I guess not really. They do seem to not know anything about school, which leads me to think that they start out as turtles. Or maybe they are mutated as human babies?

At the very least, it does not seem to be turtles mutated into humans, so I guess at least there's that. But they're REALLY playing up the whole "wanting to fit in" angle, so I'm sure that in trying to do so, they're going to cause a huge calamity for the plot, then have a chance to get whatever their wish actually is, but they'll give it up to save the day and people will cheer them, showing them the appreciation that they always wanted, roll credits.

But no, based on this, it would seem they're not mutated humans.

A possibility I hadn't considered: TONS of people get mutated in like a Mutant Town event, even the kids, so it's not at all weird when the Turtles enroll in high school.

Betting they probably did start out as Turtles, but may be trying to do the reverse? Mikey commented on how they could be going to that school soon. Even if the rest of the town is mutated that scene seems to be earlier in the plot than that.

Be that as it may, one scene can say a lot about a film's tone, characters, and dialogue, which are things we didn't entirely know about this movie yet. This storyboard, even if the scene doesn't wind up in the movie exactly like this, tells us a lot about what direction they went in, which is something we could previously only infer from character designs and odd Rogen remarks.

For the average type of TMNT fan on this forum, what this storyboard tells us about the movie (which is quite a bit more than most scenes as this appears to be the Act 2 Break) is going to turn most of us off. I believe saying "I'm not going to see this because I think it looks bad" based off this storyboard alone is rational.

I'll personally still be watching any trailers or random promo material, because at worst it'll give me something to laugh at and mock for free. That said, I've been pleasantly surprised at an animated movie twice in the last year, so I'll keep my ears open about it. It's a "ten foot pole" relationship. I still want it to be good, but if it's out in theaters and I still think it looks terrible, I won't be in the audience.

As a ginger, this thread is giving the last several years of my life validation.
