3-Hour Extended Cut of Superman: The Movie Coming to Blu-Ray and DVD

Quote:
Decades before blockbuster Extended Cuts were common, Superman proved a true “Man of Tomorrow.” Superman: The Movie received an ahead-of-its-time makeover for its television premiere – nearly 40 more minutes of story, creating a two-night television event. Audiences had already been swept off their feet by Christopher Reeve’s Last Son of Krypton, and now there was more to enjoy. Unseen in decades, this version is paired here with Richard Donner’s definitive vision of his film, the Special Edition Director’s Cut (2000), to create a supersized celebration of Metropolis’ favorite son that preserves the director’s intent while feeding superfan demands.

Ugh, I'd cut an hour of fluff out of the movie, not throw more stuff in there.

Does this mean that some of the stuff that ended up in the Superman II "Donner Cut" will appear here?

I don't think that will be the case although I could be wrong.

Long ago, I did see many Youtube clips of cut scenes of the first film that only appeared on tv such as Eve Techsmacher being thrown into a room with big cats before being rescued by supes so I assume they will all be in this release.

I'm with Andrew, I think this film's long enough as it is. But I love it when stuff like this is dredged up from the vaults.

Does it really count as a "2-Film Collection" if it's two cuts of the same film?

Interesting, I never knew about the extra TV content. I've only seen the movie once, and I'm not sure I need to see it stretched out to three hours.

I've heard of a TV edit of this movie but I never thought I'd see it on Blu-
ray...

I've also heard that there's a longer, better version of Superman IV.

Depending on the price, I might have to triple-dip.

It's probably going to be like the Dune: Extended Edition. Extended TV stuff crudely edited back in here and there that was generally deleted for good reason.
