Songs which mention super heroes but aren't necessarily about them.

Well, let's be honest, since Superman first flew into the comic book pages back in 1938, everybody and their goldfish have cashed in on the concept of having super powers and what a Superhero should be.

Which of course also makes it a good subject to write songs about.

Black Grape "Kelly's heroes" which mentions Batman and because of Batman being always so self righteous, questions if it was Jesus underneath the cowl all along.

The firm, not to be confused with the band of the same name which had Paul Rogers and Jimmy Page, is best known for their song "Star Trekkin'" but their follow up single must be just as funny as it lampoons super heroes and all they stand for. They basically name them all in the lyrics.

I'm not sure how many outside Europe are familiar with the TV series "Supergran" but, the premise is all in the title: here's a grandma who has super powers and makes all the big name Superheroes look bad. The lyrics tell, Superman, Iceman, Spiderman, Batman and Robin to stand back because it's Supergran to the rescue. The song itself was done by Billy Connolly and the lyrics are frankly hilarious "She's got more front than a row of houses."

But of course not all of those songs are funny.

The biggest superhero is the one you can be for somebody else and it's damn tough to live up to that.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "Land of Confusion" by Genesis.
