30th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys
In mid-2018, it's 30 years ago since the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys were released.
http://ew.com/article/1990/03/30/tee...atre-near-you/ So no matter if you played with them as a child, or still collect, I think it's time for a general discussion (memories, what TMNT toys you had or other stuff. Maybe you wanted some vehicles or playsets?) I got some for Christmas present in 1991, and then bought some. Last edited by Original TMNT Cartoon Fan; 07-08-2018 at 12:26 PM. |

My first exposure to TMNT was right when the toy line first launched. My brother and I went to Kiddie City (R.I.P.) looking for a Batman toy from the Michael Keaton movie. But the TMNT, which I hadn't ever seen before, caught my eye. I bought Rocksteady, just because he seemed to be the coolest looking character, and then went back the next day for Donatello. Back at home, my brother and I talked about how I should start collecting the figures. I don't think either of us ever imagined how far that obsession would go!

I remember being introduced to TMNT when my brother brought home a Donatello figure after spending the night at a friends house. We fought over who got to play with him until Christmas 1989 my grandma gave me Raphael and the next day my parents gave me Leonardo between both of us we had all 4. Later on we would eventually get paper routes to support our addictions. I remember we went to the store with our hefty holiday tips one year and both got sets of the Movie Star figures. I think that was the first time I owned all 4 that were mine

My introduction to TMNT was getting the Raphael action figure from a Wal-Mart!

^ I had all of those figures up there, except the Foot Soldier.

I first saw TMNT figures in a department store in 1988. My first thought was that the Turtles were bad guys because they looked mean and had no pupils in their eyes. I would, a few months later, receive a Foot Soldier, Knucklehead and the Four Turtles for Xmas. Soft heads with fan club flyers, I ripped those babies right open
