It seems that this movie is trying to please fans who were unhappy that Maleficent wasn't all evil like she was in the original animated movie.

Angelina is such a perfect casting for Maleficent but I’m not big on them rewriting her as the hero. Still excited for the sequel - Michelle Pfeiffer! Two Queens in a film.

This movie was just very okay. Alice Through the Looking Glass was a far worse sequel to a live action adaptation, but this felt kind of dull and unmemorable. The cast does what they can with the material they are give, which is not much.

I saw the first two movies, first is interesting, I wish malifecent was actually a bad person in the end but whatever. Second feels unnecessary but as a side tale it did a pretty great job. Let's see what they do for a third film which I'm sure they'll somehow make and just like the IP man movies will be even far more removed from what the original was even if still neat.

The cast does what they can with the material they are give, which is not much. Spoiler: The writers tried to fix things that were missing in the first film like having Maleficent turn into a creature, but this time she becomes a Phoenix instead of a dragon. After the Fairy Flittle sacrifices herself and becomes blue plants, the remaining two pixies at the end fight over what color Aurora’s wedding dress should be. This time it’s pink or green instead of pink and blue. However, since Flittle’s spirit is still around somehow she makes the dress blue and they are satisfied with that color.
