Looking at Wikipedia, I can't find anything implying another show is in the works, just that Hasbro has been attempting to find a better distributor than Netflix. Admittedly, I wouldn't be too worried if I actually cared, they're probably just going to take Gozyuger or King-Ohger and turn that into another season of PR down the line because that's what they always do.

Hasbro have no interest in adapting any more Sentai, they think only MMPR makes them any money.

All we really know is that Hasbro has the license from Gorenger to Ryusoulger, theoreticall, Kira, Zenkai, Donbros, King, and Boonboom are all free. Though honestly I just don’t see anyone want to do another adaptation.

Nope, it's the one that sells. In fact, the new game Rita's Rewind is based on it.

I once read the PRs contract with Toei was basically the ability to adapt sentai seasons. This was on RangerTalk forums I think from that one guy who seemed to know a lot about the franchise and had authority can't remember his name but I think he left the fandom because of some controversy and apparently some of what he said wasn't exactly correct.

But I mean, does that actually mean no one else can adapt sentai? Do we know that? Or could another company eventually acquire the rights to adapt sentai under a different name?

Interesting, so even if saban wasn't adapting the other sentai he was still paying some type of rights to keep the possibility. Also why they just went back to an older sentai for Cosmic Fury.

I think there's a lot of money to be made with another adaptation, they just need to go back to basics, and I mean real basics. I'm talking VR Troopers type of low budget. Keep American footage low, only for scenes with humans and some non-morphed actions scenes. You can have some morphed scenes but basically just to help bridge the gap that you're not just splcing footage even if they are. And go from there.

The problem has been they always try to make less use of Japanese footage, and that's a mistake. Kamen Rider Dragon Knight and many PR adaptations suffered because budget issues because of it. You would need decent writers but that's it. It would be a relatively low cost gamble with the possibility of a lot of profit. You could make it for a fraction of what power rangers was spending.

Exactly, this is what the ranger fandom never gets they get stuck with the "STOP IGNORING THE OTHER SEASONS, YOU"RE LEAVING MONEY ON THE TABLE". They aren't. they try but usually fail at it. New seasons had a fraction of the popularity so that means only a fraction of that fraction has nostalgia to buy merchandise.
Hell, even if say only 1% of nostalgic MMPR fans buy merch and 60% of nostalgic RPM (insert whatever season here) fans buy merch. The MMPR craze was so huge that 1% still equals much greater profits than the 60%.

I wonder how much Hasbro owns of Zyuranger imagery or if perhaps Toei could actually sell some of those designs to do other stuff. At the very least they seem to have no problem with using them for Sentai stuff but I'm guessing the problems arise if using them worldwide. I wonder if those rights could expire one day if not used.

I feel like at this point if you are going to “localize” sentai/rider, you might as well just do what Tsuburaya does with Ultraman right now and just simuldub it.

Also, King would prove hard to adapt. While it does have the generic quarry and japan city, it has a constant use of European buildings, feudal japan and snowy mountains. It has a very specific style where PR could do “generic town in *insert state here*”
As you would need to be specific. Of course with power rangers wanting to use the bare minimum of Japanese culture, that makes all the feudal japan scenes useless.

I have seen some people go for the generic “it’s a videogame series” and honestly that’s just a really terrible cop out and lacking any creative write around.

And of course, if you are going to try to replicate King stuff, you will need to buy the tech that it and the Mandalorian uses.

I've been hoping they go that exact route myself. Anime is more popular than ever before in the West and Godzilla Minus One proved that general audiences here can embrace live action media from Japan without the need for heavy localization. Hasbro doesn't have to worry about the latest Sentai competing against PR anymore as long as they aren't doing any adaptations anyway. If Toei can work out a deal with Shout I would be very happy. (Please give us more Kamen Rider too.)

Latest 'scoop' from Daniel RPK is that Paramount are going to develop a new Power Rangers movie and then launch an animated series afterwards

I read that Paramount may even buy the media rights which if true, would Hasbro be willing to allow this given how much they paid for the brand?

Would Paramount be buying the whole IP or just a portion?

The Power Rangers IP is a glorified license contract on Sentai, so by default it's a portion.
