I love the Original Six, but seeing who they truly are is sad sometimes.

Off topic, as a child the very first voice I could identify was Jim Cummings hearing him as Monty Mouse and Leatherhead in elementary school and then as the spokesperson of Kids! WB.

With everything that’s happened today with Austin and Jim I am going to need to do a lot of journaling and therapeutic techniques to help me get over it. I have to say though that I did indeed once again learn a valuable lesson from a TV show I watched years ago and I will get through this.

I completely understand. The way JDF went out despite the message he embodied. I wanted to fool myself that they were and are the best Rangers and people who have ever put on a Ranger helmet, but alas it's equated to sticking one's head in the sand. Never meet your heroes they say...

I have spoken about meeting JDF, David Yoest, and Amy Jo Johnson multiple times before at GalaxyCon, but that was virtually. I am trying to put together plans to see the OT TMNT cast in-person in July. Is there a way to find out if there is any panel with them all? It would be difficult to get through 4 separate lines for a meet and greet. I would love just listening to them and getting signatures. Have any of you any knowledge of in-person GalaxyCon?

I’ve only done GalaxyCon virtually but never in person.

It just wears me down thinking how much of a cavalcade of controversy there's been for a decade now in the franchise, with our heroes from yesteryear either writing grim edgy deconstructive content (The Return), taking their own lives (JDF), extorting fans (The Order and other scams), and we've arguably reached the pinnacle of this now with endorsing Hitler.

Power Rangers has truly lost it's innocence.

There is also the 2015 14 minute short-film where Rita killed the Rangers after the Machine Empire took over the work, the dark-gritty, out-of-character portrayals and the fact that Sakoloff and Van Der Berk look nothing like their characters I had to watch it a couple of times to understand what it was going for and what was going on. I understand why JDF refused to endorse it, but it was popular. Then again I don't understand the popularity of the Turbo replacements so there is that. Seeing that Haim is exploiting them for $,but at the same time they don't get how it works and to build resumes. So many of them not just Jason Geiger is more interested in money then getting acting/producing credits and catering to fans. Wealth comes in time and should not be the focus. I hear Don Henley singing 'The End of The Innocence'.

I think I addressed this before, as an admirer of Jason David Frank the person I fear that everything he did in life will be dismissed because the way in which he left us despite preaching against it. I hope that his message will not be lost. Maybe it's an incorrect statement, but I believe with exception to William Shatner to Star Trek, no individual has given back more to a franchise JDF did for Power Rangers and the wider community. Tommy was my favorite because my favorite color was green (turtles are green). Then the loss of powers and continuing on allowed me to love his character because of who he is as a person, JDF the man. That is why he is my favorite and the greatest ranger in the lore.

Entertainment Weekly covered the controversy in very 'slow news day' fashion

That's the kiss of death to that brand. Out of all the toy companies why Playmates

... Uh huh...

I know the "IP hot potato" probably comes to the fact that "owning" Power Rangers amounts to little more than just having a license contract to Super Sentai, but when a literal toy company don't feel like even keeping the merch rights, that's kind of a bad sign, right?

And now BOOM studios have announced the MMPR comic book is ending

https://aiptcomics.com/2024/04/23/bo...power-rangers/

...Not the end of the line at the company it seems, they will announce new phases and projects around San Diego Comic Con.

Hasbro are trying to keep only one toe in the toy pool rather than a full pair of feet, their priorities have largely been gaming and entertainment for the past year and PR didn't fit their present portfolio for that

Now that it's out in full I took my LCS owner's suggestion and got the lot of 4. After reading the first issue of The Return online I was quite upset, but having return it start to finish Amy Jo took me on an emotional journey and left me with a tear in my eye and a big smile on my face. What did you all think of it? Is there supposed to be a follow up?

It was quite boring. Dragged its feet until its final issue and just rushed through. Don’t like that Young Tommy is here to stay. It honestly feels like a comic that doesn’t work. It’s not as bad as Ranger academy, it’s just mediocre.

I took it as Amy Jo writing a tribute to Thuy and JDF. I was scarred by JDF's suicide so the resolution healed it some as I believe it did for Amy Jo. That is how I took it and I appreciate it for that.
