So is this the "middle-aged TMNT" story that E&L have always mentioned? It was brought up again in their commentary from the TMNT: Ultimate Collection books. I'd like to think it'll be more "Mirage set" too. But the thing that'll break the camels back is if there are any colors or covers color the Turtles' head bands as the multi-colored ones instead of all red. Thats a no, no. Gods sake its already happening in the Ultimate Collections trade edition covers, multi color head bands. If this is the only way we'll finally see this story come to fruition, then so be it. Hopefully they'll get E&L to do all the 5 issues' covers in the least.

I have no idea, but I think they'll play it ambiguous. It could be the Mirage TMNT's future... it could be the IDW TMNT's future. Obviously rainbow bandannas would make the gig be up.

Though by the very nature of the title it kind of sounds like there'd only be one TMNT. Like, if that's Raphael... who knows?

Ambiguous as to what Turtle it is??
Now that is taking advantage of the medium and the Mirage TMNT illustration style in general.

So one turtle who has survived the others and it is not revealed who within the story? Its hard to read a story and you don't know who your lead is.

Well, in theory, it'd be a gimmick for the story to be structured around. There would ideally be a reason to leave it ambiguous, perhaps by playing off character beats with high precision in interesting ways...if that makes sense.

Conceptually there is room to play, but with no purpose it would be a mess, sure.

I wonder if this character/turtle is the last of the turtles and is carrying the weapons of his brothers who have passed on. Ronin also means swordsman without a master so if splinter passed on this would make sense.

And there could be clues throughout as to his identity. Fun for speculation. And/or just outright given away at the end.

If the right seeds are planted early on or if the characters are defined adequately, the clues could be really tantalizing, yeah.
